Need to find a doctor to remove ruptured plant... Live close to Orlando. Please help me...

Hello, Bonnie -

You need a doctor, a surgeon, to remove a ruptured implant, but you posted your question on Fixya.com, a website intended for questions and answers on how to go about repairing _things_. Plus, your question landed in the Fixya.com category of Cars & Trucks.

First, if you have a regular doctor, ask him or her for a referral.

Or, contact your health insurance provider and obtain a list of physicians which accept your health insurance.

Not knowing what the ruptured implant was meant to fix, I don't know what kind of surgeon would be needed. Plus, I would never refer anyone I didn't know to a surgeon.

Best wishes.

who is my primary doctor?

Hello, Hugh -

Only you know who your primary doctor is.

That is the medical professional whom you routinely make appointments to see and by whom you are treated.

If you need to indicate what doctor is your primary physician for some insurance information and you do not yet have one, you will need to choose one from the list of doctors which accept the particular health care insurance you have (or wish to have), contact that doctor's office, and find out if he / she is accepting new patients.

Best wishes.

Indemnity health plan

A PPO covers many of your health care needs for a small per-visit fee if you choose from the list of "preferred providers." You can choose to see a doctor who's not on the list, but you'll foot a greater part of the bill and may have to pay a deductible. Some PPOs do require claim forms. where as Indemnity insurance doesn't cover the total cost. Coverage is usually limited to a percentage of the billed amount.

When I go to my primary doctor, will he likely refer me to a bariatric surgeon if I ask him to?

There are certain criteria you have to meet in order for your insurance company to approve the procedure, i.e. be 100 lbs. overweight, have health problems like diabetes, hypertension. So really it is not up to the primary doctor to deny you, it is more the insurance company. There is almost 6months to a years pretesting needed for this surgery too. You will need: blood work, ekg, chest x ray, stomach endoscopy, colonoscopy, psychiatric evaluation, gallbladder sonar, and you will need to see your primary doctor for 6 visits, one per month to weigh you and check your general health. Just remember that this isn't an instant solution to a weight problem, the easy part is getting the weight off, but keeping it off is all up to you. You have to make changes in your diet and not go back to your old eating habits. Make sure if approved that you go to a board certified surgeon that has done numerous procedures like this. I wish you all the best. Here you will get more information about Bariatric Surgeons.
