I have a 12 pound turkey that i cooked at 425 for a half hour then turned it down to 325 degrees how long till its done ?

Usually I use 30 mins per pound. You should get a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. When it is at least 165 degrees at the thickest part of the bird.

I have a 24 pound turkey that I want to cook in the roaster oven over night. Can this be done and how?

You can, but cooking overnight will ruin the turkey. The bird will be overcooked and literally fall apart. The term is called 'cooking to rags'. The bre asttt meat will be very dried out.

Unstuffed is only 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Stuffed is 5 to 5 1/2 hours. I only stuff the neck end. Another tip is to cook the turkey bre asttt down. If you do it that way, all the juices from the fattier part of the turkey, the legs and thighs bastes the bre asttt as it cooks. If you cook it this way once, you will do it every year. Turn the bird over to carve it once it has rested for 20 minutes. Tent it with foil. Put folded foil over the wings. I am a trade masterchef.

need cooking time for a whole chicken

as for cooking time , it depends on the "grill" type , if its just a normal electric grill of about 1100 watts power , your cook time is going to be aprox 1.5 hrs to get bird to an internal temp of 165 deg. at least , now if its an infared model with a powerfull lamp as its heat source , this time will be reduced to about 45 min . but still the best way is to use a meat thermometer and cook it till its up to temp.

HOW LONG DO YOU COOK A TURKEY

Hi Kathy.

Happy Holidays. The answer to your question is 'it depends'. On size of turkey, how you cook it (deep frying is faster than roasting, for instance, while smoking is really slow), and how you're judging it to be done. The most effective, and safest way to assist the cooking is to have a meat thermometer that can be inserted into the deep part of the ,er, white meat (the word police tagged me here) to monitor when it gets to a target temperature, usually in the 160-170F range. If possible, it's a very worthwhile investment to get a remote probe thermometer, with a cable that snakes out around the oven door and displays the meat temperature. Opening the door all the time to check temperature lets the heat out and runs the cooking all day.

I'm a big fan of the Alton Brown/Good Eats recipe
Good Eats Roast Turkey Alton Brown Food Network if you have the time ahead, the brining really makes for a moist tasty bird, and the actual cook time is usually between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the bird size. The initial high heat sear makes for great browning and crisp skin.

As a general rule, allow 20-30 minutes after baking for the turkey to rest before carving (cover in foil during this time). It'll cook a bit so as not to burn you while carving, and the juices re-absorb into the meat. (carve right away and a lot of the juice will run down onto the carving surface.

Bon Apetit!

Frezeer was unpluged by accident. All mear thawed out. Is it ok to refrzeethe meat and eat it later.

Is it safe to refreeze food that has thawed completely?
Once food is thawed in the refrigerator, it is safe to refreeze it without cooking,
although there may be a loss of quality due to the moisture lost through defrosting. After cooking raw foods which were previously frozen, it is safe to freeze the cooked foods. And if previously cooked foods are thawed in the refrigerator, you may refreeze the unused portion.

If you purchase previously frozen meat, poultry or fish at a retail store, you can refreeze if it has been handled properly.
