How to reset Samsung Galaxy Tab10.1

A factory data reset may help with a blank or frozen screen, apps crashing or freezing, keypad/touchscreen problems, can't hear, device making noises, can't make or receive calls, and device won't sync.
Perform a factory data reset only if absolutely necessary as it removes all data including:

Google^TM account
System and app data
App settings
Downloaded apps
Media (Music, pictures and videos, etc.)

Notes:

An alternate reset method is available if the device can be powered on and is responsive.
If troubleshooting third-party apps, disable the Automatic Restore option.

Power the device off.
Press and hold the Volume Up button and then briefly press the Power button to power on the device.
Release the Volume Up button and the Power button when the Samsung logo displays on the screen.
Use the Volume Up button to select the small android with an arrow icon.
Press the Volume down button.
Use the Volume button to select Recovery Console then press the Power button.
From the Recovery Console screen, use the Volume button to select Wipe Data / Factory Reset then press the Power button.
Use the Volume button to select Yes then press the Power button.
Once the Wipe Data / Factory Reset has completed, use the Volume button to select Reboot System Now then press the Power button.
Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.
To set up the device after completing the factory data reset, refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

From any Home screen, tap the All apps icon.
Tap Settings.
Scroll to the 'PERSONAL' heading, then tap Backup & reset.
Tap Factory data reset.
Tap Reset phone.
If your phone is password protected, you'll be prompted to enter your Pattern, PIN, or Password.
Tap Erase everything.

Master reset with hardware keys

Back up data on the internal memory.
With the device turned off, press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons until the ZTE logo screen appears, then release.
Press the Volume down button to highlight wipe data/factory reset.
Press the Power button to select.
Press the Volume down button repeatedly until Yes -- delete all user data is highlighted.
Press the Power button to select.
Wait as the device resets.

Hard reset or factory wipe is a method of formatting any Android device ( tablet or mobile). By doing hard reset all the apps and files that are installed or created by the user will deleted. Even the memory card will get formatted. So before going for hard reset or factory swipe, it is suggested to remove the memory card if you do not want data to be erased
For simple factory reset the process is follows:

In case your Android smartphone is complete frozen and not responding to you at all, the above restart method won't work for you! To unfreeze Android smartphone that is dead froze, force restart it by holding the Sleep / Power key and the Volume Down key simultaneously until your device's screen goes blank.
This force restart key combo varies from device to device, so it is advised to check your device manual for the right combo. If your Android device has a removable battery, you can remove it and put it again and it will restart the device.
