LG G3 Randomly Rebooting

My LG G3 phone started randomly rebooting and eventually got to the point that it would go into a continuous reboot loop. That is, I would see the LG splash screen and before my carrier's screen could come up, it would reboot again. The only way out of this was to hold down the power button as soon as the LG splash screen appeared. This would power off the phone but also made it unusable.

I talked to my carrier's tech support and they couldn't help. As I kept fiddling with the phone, I noticed that the problem could be exacerbated by adding a processing load like by turning on location services. Turn on GPS and the phone reboots. Try to install a new app and the phone reboots. This led me to believe that the problem might be the battery. Also, the same actions didn't cause a reboot if the phone was plugged into a charger.

Batteries are cheap so I ordered a replacement battery and, so far, no more problem.

My LG Shine boots up to a stage and shuts down to begin to reboot again and continues to do this without actually booting completely. It will boot to a stage without the sim card and just stop at that stage.

sounds like you may need to reset the phone, this may solve the loop issue, but you may loose some of the data in the phone.

reboot the phone, while in the boot up process, press 1880, then let it sit.

hope this helps.

i just purchased an LG Lotus and the phone continues to reboot itself. It will turn on for about 1 min and then reboot while it is plugged in.

We just bought this phone today and after a few hours, it just started rebooting randomly. We were getting ready to return the phone, and then updated the firmware and now have no more reboots. Here are the steps for a firmware update:
  1. From the Home icon select, the OK/Menu button
  2. Go to Tools
  3. Scroll down to Update Phone (or press #) and press OK
  4. Select Updated Firmware (or press 1)
  5. Follow onscreen instructions
After the download completes, the firmware package is installed. For the last several hours, we've had no more reboots or power downs.

Phone reboots randomly while in use

If it was happening on the previous phone too, then it's pretty unlikely to be caused by the phone but instead by what you're storing on the phone.

The most common culprit is third party ringtones, so if you're using any ringtones that you got online, recorded yourself, made yourself or somebody sent to you then you'll want to start by deleting those and then rebooting your phone.
