Tip & How-To about Frigidaire Affinity ATF8000FE
This is a tip for those who own a Frigidaire ATF8000 washing machine model which does not drain properly and/or makes a loud noise while draining.
For me, it was something caught at the end of the hose trying to get into the pump. This made a terrible loud noise when the washer was in spin cycle, working the pump to try to drain the water.
First of all, unplug the power cord.
Since the new Frigidaire ATF8000 models have no easy access panel to remove in the front, you have to unscrew the back panel to begin.
I found that I could not do anything except unplug the two wires clipped to the pump from the back of the machine, since the Askoll M85 pump is located near the front.
So I carefully laid the washing machine on one of it's sides so that I could get to the pump from the opening on the bottom of the washer.
This was easiest since now I have two ways of seeing the pump. But it still would be better if Frigidaire didn't block access from the front.
So now you should be able to move the green metal clip holding the big black hose that comes down from the drum attached to the pump. There will be water spilling out as you remove the hose. I put some dish towels underneath to catch anything.
In my case, as soon as I unattached the black hose, I found a piece of metal bra wire halfway into the pump. I removed this, re-attached the hose, raised the washer back upright, re-attached the two wires clipped to the pump, screwed on the back panel and plugged the washer back in.
And now the machine works beautifully once again.
Hope this helps.
