Tip & How-To about HP Expresscard TV Tuner For Windows Vista (RM436AA#ABA)

HP Express Card Digital / Analog not working

First thing I tried to do was to install the drivers that came into the CD didn't work, just using mydvd9 the import/aqcuire option I could have some noise signal, but couldn't find a way to select channels and hanged after a while. This is too trickier, I thought, it should be a way to used quickplay and other applications.

I couldn't get anything from HP site so investigating I found the following.

1) Had to upgrade quickplay to latest version (is pretty cool btw)
2) The card internally is a Hauppage and found that is actually the HVR1500 http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hvr1500.html.
Drivers + application can be downloaded at http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hvr1250.html

3) After upgrading quickplay and installing drivers and application from hauppage, Quick play had additionally an hp digital tv tuner entry, but here in canada there is no digital signal transmitted through antenna.
4) I have reinstalled manually the drivers that came in the CD, but from the c:\swsetup\HP Digital tv tuner folder
5) After this I had at quickplay a second source "Hp Analog Tv tuner" which allowed me to caputure the regular air signal and wintv worked as well

I'm sure that I did some redundant steps, but it worked and now can I have everything working (quickplay, wintv, digital, analog signals)

Hope this helps and btw I haev uploaded the manuals for thouse who can't get it, since HP doesn't have them in the website.

Cheers

Alejandro

I have an Olympus Digital Recorder W-10 with the install disk. I didn't have any problem on my older computers, but I have a new one with Windows Vista Home Premium with 64 bit processor. I loaded the install disk, but I guess it didn't, or can't, load a driver because it sure won't work. Can you help? Thanks, Ted

The recorder W10 is NOT compatible with Windwos 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP 64 bits

If you have the CD with software "Olympus Voice Album " try install and reconigze tge recorder.

I purchased a Logitech C510 webcam yesterday. I put the installation cd in and everything seemed to load. Then the logitech screen pops up and says "driver not found". If I used the cd to install the software, why didn't the drivers load? What do I do now?

The first step I would try in troubleshooting is to download the most recent drivers for this device from the Logitech Website (I'm including the link below, you'll just need to select the appropriate Operating System). There appears to be two options - the Smart Installer and the Full Installer. The Full Installer appears to be considerably larger - but may provide the best results.

If the newest driver doesn't work feel free to reply to this solution and I'll see what else I can do to help.

Good luck!

MY DRIVER CD MISSING

Since you didn't give detailed info about your device model. I'll recommend you to directly try the Driver Detective tool and let the program have a free scan to automatically detect & update the missing drivers. This way things can be much easier & efficient. Also you don't have to risk install wrong drivers which might cause severe system issues.

Hello,

Looks like Windows is corrupted... probably got infected...

First thing... is there any important information on your friends laptop saved... like files, folders... anything he/she does not want to lose?

If so, there are a couple of options... easiest thing is to download a Live Cd linux distribution like puppy linux or damn small linux and then copying the important files to a USB stick or something, but if you don't know Linux very well this may take you a long time.

Another option is to use the Windows cd and reinstall the system... typically you can reinstall into the same directory (overwriting the previous corrupted one) or a different directory like C:/Windows2 and booting into the new one instead. Both of these solutions will work, but will probably not solve the problem that corrupted Windows in the first place.

If you choose second option, I suggest once you boot into the fixed windows to copy any important information to a USB drive, then format your hard disk and reinstall windows from scratch.

If you need any more help let me know.

Regards,

Chester
