Tip & How-To about Samsung LE40R73BD 40 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

Samsung LE40R73 LCD clicking

The power supply pcb located in the centre of the panel has 4 capacitors on the pcb that go faulty. This can be seen by the tops on them bulging up with possible brown fluid discharge. The value of these is 1000uF and after replacing these (can be purchased from Maplins or any other electronic components outlet), the fault will be cured.

goodmans gtvl26w28hd picture very dull and fluttering badly

I had the same issue. Some other sites suggested the Inverter PCB could be faulty but I couldn't see anything obviously wrong with it. However, I did notice that there was only 19V coming in on the 24V supply to it. The 24V is supplied from the Power Supply PCB (the one where the mains supply comes in to). So the solution was to replace 2 x 680uF capacitors on the power supply board, located near the 24V output connector to the Inverter PCB. Visually, these two capacitors appeared to be 'bulging' which is a good indication that they are faulty.
