Tip & How-To about Samsung SCH-U450 Cell Phone
If you ever need to replace your Samsung Intensity's battery, or if you just want to remove and reinstall it to reset the phone, getting the battery out is a piece of cake.
First, turn your phone off by holding down the End button (the button to the far right of the directional pad) for a couple of seconds, until the phone begins to shut down. Then turn the phone over so you're looking at the back of it. (The battery can be removed with the slide-out keyboard either out or in, but the phone is a little easier to grip if the keyboard is in.)
The rear cover of the phone pops off easily as one piece. You can fit a fingernail in the groove along the top of the cover (by the camera lens) and the cover should come right off. Once the cover is off, you're looking right at the battery. It's the rectangle-shaped thing in the middle of the phone (that probably says "Samsung" on it). There is a little ditch on the bottom edge of the battery where you can put your finger to lift the battery out of its cavity, and once you lift it up it can be removed easily.
When reinstalling or replacing the battery, slide the top side (the side with the three gold contacts) in first, and the notches will line up as the battery falls into place. The battery is keyed so it can only be inserted one way; if it does not slide in easily, make sure the gold contacts on the battery are lined up with the gold contacts on the phone. When the battery is back in, reattach the rear cover (making sure it snaps into place) and turn the phone on by holding down the End button for a second or two.
