I have a cd stuck in copy mode. It won't finish copying, and I can't abort or eject. I can't shut down or restart either because the copy function won't finish (sleep mode works). The disc spins for about a minute when it wakes up, but then stops, so it doesn't seem to be reading anything. Also, no emergency eject button on my macbook. Any help?
Hold down power button until your machine shuts off. then power back on. you should be fine.
if the cd is stuck in the drive, restart the machine and hold down the mouse button while restarting - the cd should eject itself.

Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
4. Press COMMAND-E.
5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
/usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

How To Eject CD from CD-ROM drive if it is Stuck :
If you have a CD into CD-ROM drive and it is stuck and you are trying to eject tray of CDROM by pressing the eject button or windows eject command but CD won't eject as there is no command to eject a stuck compact disc from the CDROM drive then this article is for you.
Step 1: Switch off the computer.
Step 2. On the front of the CD-ROM drive you may find a small hole called Emergency Eject hole below the tray of CD-ROM drive . Take a long pin around 3 inch, (also known as CD ejector) it must be hard enough, insert this pin inside the hole and push a little. The CD tray will slightly move to out.
Step 3: Now you may manually pull the tray and you are done. You have successfully ejected the stucked CD.
Step 4: Switch on the computer and you may work as usual.
restart mac and press down the trackpad after you hear the startup noise
if
that does not work try opening up disk utility and click on the icon of
your disk under the left hand column then go up to eject button and
click eject
or open up terminal found in the utilities folder within your applications folder and then type in drutil tray eject and then press return
Finally
what to do is try pick up your macbook tilt the macbook to the one side
and press the eject key and hopefully the effect of gravity will allow
the CD to fall out.

CD Stuck in Device First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu. If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X. Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared. If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar. Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button. Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism. Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray. Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. ) If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.
The same thing happens to me all the time.
Ok so, you have the cd in ur laptop. Restart your laptop and hold the "eject" key until it comes back to your desktop. If your computer cant restart, hold down the power button till its off then turn it on again and hold the eject button. And hopefully it will come out.
unfortunately on the newer mac computer including the macbook you cannot boot to open firmware but there are other options
option 1)simply try holding down the mouse button or track pad button during boot after the first chime is sounded this will instruct the computer to eject the cd through the firmware
option 2) you can bypass the cd boot by holding down the option key after the first boot chime another simple solution this will allow you to choose a startup disk during...startup
after which you can try the eject button on the keyboard or select the disk in finder and eject via trash can or eject symbol(symbol located in the open folder view of finder)
option 3) there is also a manual eject button though it may be harder to locate as they have change placements of it over the years however it can usually be found by probing the top center or far right of the cd slot with a paper clip just be gentle you don't want to damage an expensive piece of equipment by just carelessly jamming metal in it
you may want to try searching apple with your particular model and search for manual cd eject

After you finish with the repair. quit and restart. Hold down the eject key while restarting. Remove restore CD.
