Most TVs will have a display button the the remote that when you push it, it changes the display, that or zooming in should fix your problem

New 39" Insignia TV . I have a picture on the screen that doesn't fill the screen. It is about 4" short on each side. How can I get it to a full screen

if its a even 4 inch border on each side the set is in the 4x3 format, look for a button on the remote (read owner manual) for aspect.

Sony KDL-V32XBR1 Displays only snowy picture

Here are a few more troubleshooting steps you can try when your TV picture is just snow. I see that you have already rebooted your TV, but did you turn your set-top box off and on, too?

1. Does the picture show when you play a DVD?
2. Check all of the connections between the TV, outlet and set-top box and make sure everything is secured.
3. Is your TV set to the correct channel (typically 3, but in some areas 2 or 4)?
4. Press any key on the remote to see if the correct mode lights up. (Ex: if you have cable, the cable button should light up). If it doesn't, press the correct mode's button to regain control and change channels.
5. Call your service provider and make sure it's not an overall service outage.
6. Do you have sound but no picture? If so, it could mean a backlight failure.

For more suggestions, see TV black screen or snowy screen for troubleshooting and solutions. I hope this helps!

The picture doesn't fill the screen.

Well this may indeed just be a setting, you need to look in your manual, with regards to Aspect Ratios and Screen Sizing. There are screen adjustments that can be made to make the image fill the screen. However the actual way in which it is done is individual to each unit.

A simple question - My new 42" LG tv is fine -

You should be able to change the aspect ratio to fit the size of your screen. This will be the 16:9 4:3 16:10 settings.

You can access these by going to MENU---> PICTURE -----> Select ratio that works----> exit out and watch TV.

IF this will not fix it you need to look into the signals being fed to the TV as sometimes they can have a funny effect on the output picture. Some cable boxes will alter the picture and then it won't come out right on the TV. If it is all inputs doing this tho then changing just the Aspect ratio on the TV should solve the problem.

We have dish network. the problem is the picture doesn't fill the screen. it just shows up in a small box. what can i try?

On your DISH remote press the format button with an asterisk on it if this doesn't correct the issue try the page up and page down buttons to the right of the volume. If neither of these correct the issue reply with your receiver model number and we can go from there!

I just bought a used Loewe TV model number ACO938PB. I can;t get the picture to fill the screen. I've changed the settings inside the TV and the 6X9 format works best, but there are still bars of black...

I had a similar problem, and I fixed it with my new Sony flat screen by going into the zoom mode and then menu on the tv remote. You can then access settings such as horizontal and vertical and change them so that your screen can adjust. The only way you can access those settings is in zoom mode.

Both the picture and sound work when the TV is turned on, yet the picture is distorted like a double picture and has a yellow hue to it.

Sounds like you have a convergence problem. If you go into the setup menu of your TV, there should be some settings to adjust the red, green and blue hues and re-position them so each color matches up. If this does not work or if you don't have a menu, your TV *might* have a circuit board with several plastic screws on it. These adjust the picture and it's a very tedious task to re-align each hue correctly.

My projection TV is an older model from 1995, which is probably why it has this circuit board in place of a convergence menu built into the TV.

If adjusting the convergence still doesn't work, you might need to purchase a new convergence chip.
