Hello & Welcome to FixYa

If the water fills fine then the problem is with the temperature switch that is bad and needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Please check this service/repair manual for your washer to replace the switch.

  • Anonymous Aug 08, 2011

That is the common manual for MAV series

  • Anonymous Aug 08, 2011

    You are welcome :)

  • Anonymous Aug 08, 2011

I believe it is the switch but you can test it as per the manual, if that is fine then recommended repair will be replacing the board.

SOURCE: Only one of the wash cycles on my Maytag Neptune

Is it a FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW machine? Sounds like it is. I believe you have a Control Board issue; the Control Board has a 5yr warranty. Do you want to DIY a fix or call in a Appliance Repair Tech? Have you reset the 120VAC power on the machine? If not give the Control Board a hard reset by pulling the washer power plug for 10 seconds or so and then re-power up the machine.
I’ll attach the Service Manual link located on this site for reference. See if you can get into Service Mode, try this.
To enter Service Mode, this from the SM.
Enter / Exit Service Mode
To enter Service Mode press the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys simultaneously for three seconds or until the control beeps. The Console display will show “00”.

Access Board Output Test by pressing the Delicates key. The console display will show “ot”

The lid lock will lock and the Quick Wash LED will be lit. Will the machine allow you into Service Mode? If not then it’s time to replace the Control Board. Press the Off button to back out of Service Mode.

Let me know what direction you want to go. Rich

SOURCE: whirlpool washing machine...only uses hot water

Make sure the hoses are connected correctly to the water valve on the machine. The connections will be marked with an "H" and a "C".

Given they are correct, most current washing machines have and auto temp feature on the water fill. It allows even cold water settings to bring in some hot water to make sure the water temp is hot enough to efficiently disolve your laundry detergant. The preset temps are usually around 75* for cold, and 105* for warm. Hot water comes in at whatever temp your household water temp is.

Not heating

Hi Pam:
The water enters the washer via hot and cold hoses.
Either your hot water heater is not working, or the hot water solenoid control on the washer is not working.
There may be a dial with settings for wash temperature.
I'd be checking that control unit.

Getting an f-24 code, saw the solution page but it doesn't describe where the part is located or how to replace it. I am wondering if there is a way to reset the machine by unplugging or a reset button...

Hi, F24 error code a water temperature sensor error or enought hot water to the washer.
check to see you have both valves are turned on. Also, the water inlet valve on the washer has a screen and it is known to get clogged and restrict water flow. Turn off the hot water valve. Pull the hot water hose off where it attaches to the back of the washer.
Even if you are getting good hot water flow, inadequate water temperature can cause an F24 error code. Check the temperature setting on your hot water heater. It should be set at 120 F. You should reach this hot water temperature at your washer within about 1 minute.
If you are getting a good hot water flow, you may one of the following failures:
1 loose or dirty connection at the temperature sensor or control board.
2 The temperature sensor could be out of range. Bad or shorted sensor
3 Control board failure.

The temperature sensor should have a resistance reading of 6.6k ohms at 104 degrees F and should drop in Ohms as temperature rises,
The temperature sensor is located at the back lower section of the tub with 2 small black wires. It would require a ohm meter to measure the resistance of the sensor.

Whirlpool washing machine water not hot enough

Washer does not allow hot water to enter machine when you press the heavy duty button. Regular warm cycle or hot works fine. Replaced the water valves, main control panel.

Hi,

This is a common question we face daily. Certain washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others allow hot and cold to enter intermittently. Consult your owner's manual to be absolutely sure about this. If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:
Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.
Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel
settings are correct.

Newer machines know the water temperature. It will mix hot water even on a cold setting if the incoming water is too cold. Detergents need a temperature of at least 60 to activate. This will only happen in the winter usually.

Water is not getting hot even on highest setting

Check that the wash temperature has not been turned down accidentally. If not, then the most likely and obvious cause of this is the element has become faulty and needs replacing. This could also be caused by various other problems such as a faulty thermostat, resettable fuse links or activated over temperature detector, fused links in the power supply, faulty logic board, etc. Call a service engineer ASAP.

What is the F20 error code?

F-20 error code in Whirlpool Duet Sport washing machine is indication of inadequate water supply. Check both hot and cold water supply lines to make sure machine gets enough water intake. If you do not have a hot water supply to the machine you can only run it with the cold temperature setting. This machine does not have an internal water heater and relies on the hot water supply from the house water heater.
