Please provide your COMPLETE model number (located around the door opening), so that can verify how your dryer is configured. Different models require different methods of accessing the internal components and I want to make sure I give you accurate advice.

Dryer makes click when push start button but wont start

The problem is likely a blown thermal fuse. This thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and if it blows, power to the motor is terminated and the motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the motor cannot run.

Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet if the dryer has the lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate them properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced if the dryer starts. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

Let us know if the problem is not addressed above but indicate the exact model number of the machine for further advice.

My dryer is a kenmore 110.61082000 and it wont start. it keeps displaying check lint screen even though it is completely clean and the sensor bar is clean. what is wrong?

The thermal fuse located on the blower housing is blown and since it is wired in series with the motor, power to the motor is terminated, the motor will not run and no dryer function works. Disconnect power then pry the lower access panel off with a flat-head screwdriver as shown.

Remove the hex-head screw from the lint duct bracket and remove the bracket. Remove the two hex-head screws from the lint duct and remove the duct to expose the thermal fuse on the blower housing.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate them properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced along with the thermistor if the dryer starts. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards. Our Whirlpool dryer model #LER7646AQ0 will not start. Door switch checks for power with a power tester. Put new start switch in and still doesn't work. Do I need to use Ohm tester or will power tester...

This problem is commonly caused by a blown thermal fuse located on the blower housing. The thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and the motor activates a centrifugal switch for the heating element when it runs. These setup makes the dryer fail to start and the heating element not to turn on if the thermal fuse is blown. The dryer seems to no work at all. Verify the condition of the thermal fuse by bypassing it and starting the dryer.

Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the rear left bottom of the dryer cabinet. Remove the rear panel to access the blower housing and so the thermal fuse.

Dryer wont start but the timer cliicks frigdiare dryer

It sounds like the thermal fuse. Without knowing model number I cant tell you exactly. Depending on how you access it. Near the blower housing you will see a little white sliver fuse ot a round fuse with two wires running to it. The one next to it has 4 wires running to it. Disconnect power before opening the dryer... Take a meter and see if it has continuity. If not its bad. Anything further please feel free to reply.

My 2006 kenmore elite dryer wont turn on

The F40 code indicates a communication problem between the main machine control and the blower motor control board. According to your symptoms, it is likely that this problem is being caused by a blown thermal fuse. I recommend the thermal fuse for continuity.

Unplug the dryer before accessing this component. Access this fuse and pull one wire off. Measure the resistance across the leads of the fuse using a volt/ohm meter. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance (continuity) if the fuse is good. If you measure infinite resistance (open), then the thermal fuse is blown and will need to be replaced.

NOTE: If the thermal fuse is blown, check for a restriction in the exhaust vent to the outside of your home. This type of problem will cause the fuse to blow.
You can order a new thermal fuse from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number is 3390719.
This should fix your dryer problem.
