SOURCE: Standard RAM Failure after extended RAM replacement

hi

there are two hings to be noted here

1. the toughbook supports DDR2 SDRAM check to see if u have the right thing installed

2. the toughbook is expandable to 1536MB roughly1.5GB while you have put in 2GB and the possibilities are it is thus rejecting

try taking off the expanded ram chips and if it works then try expanding to 1.5GB (meaning add only one 512 RAM Chip) first and then check

cheers
pls rate if this was any help

SOURCE: I WANT TO CHANGE MY HDD 80GB AND 512 MB RAM

Go to Crucial or Viking or any memory company on the web, type in your model number, and they will provide the proper memory module advice. You can remove the cover from the HDD on the bottom of the toughbook, and inspect the current disk to determine if it is SATA or not. I would check the manufacturer and series (model) and see if they had a larger in the same series. It will be labeled if it is SATA or EIDE, and you would get the same in a larger internal size.

Where is the memory slots for the Panasonic CF-T8. I know about the one on the back where it the other slot?

    According to Panasonic's Toughbook CFT8
owners manual there is only one slot where
you can add extra RAM. The other memory
    is "non-removable" and probably soldered
    directly to the motherboard.

I double checked on the Kingston RAM Website:
    Bank Schema: 1GB Standard:
    [1GB] (Non-Removable)
    or

    3GB Standard:
    [1GB] (Non-Removable)
    or

    2GB Standard:
    [2GB] (Non-Removable)
    or

    3GB Standard:
    [2GB] (Non-Removable)
Sorry to disappoint you but that is how they
    made the CFT8 Toughbook.

If it is any consolation, the CFC1 and CFC2 both have
two (2) slots on the underside of the unit. Not the CFT8.

Put panasonic cf 29 into safe mode

On ALL Panasonic Toughbooks you can
boot into safe mode as follows:

Make sure the Toughbook is OFF.

Power on the Toughbook and immediately
start to press repeatedly the "F8" function key
which is usually located above the number 7 key.

You only have 2-3 seconds to do this and this
will only work in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

A "text-only" screen will come up. You can then
choose SAFE MODE or if you also need to
    connect to the internet choose:
    Safe Mode with Networking.

Use the UP or Down Arrows to highlight the
selected option and then press Enter.

    That is it.

    Good Luck!

2 beeps no display model cf-27eb

This POST error could mean BIOS error or a system board failure.
I suggest you replace the BIOS battery and configure the BIOS date and time etc. If this doesn't work then reseat the RAM modules.
If this doesn't work, take the RAM module/s to youe friendly computer shop to get them to test the RAM.
If all this fails then most likely the laptop's motherboard is dead.

    Panasonic cf-x1w laptop model

This means it's a laptop sold in Japan and I'm pretty sure there isn't anything you can do about it. If they made a unit with identical hardware and sold it in the US under a different model # than you can d/l the bios update for the US model and flash it over the Japanese bios. Call the manufacturer to see if that is the case.
