Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

I have jvc-56wp30 the color convergience is way off like a 3d picture. it will not converge.

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

Green tint on Samsung Television

Hi sbatsch,

Not to worry - this problem is very common with projection TVs and is easily fixed:

The reason for the green shadows (and the resulting wrong colors) is that the three color tubes (red, green, and blue - the three colors of light that combine to form all the other colors) are not lined up exactly - this lining up is known as "convergence." You can fix convergence automatically or, if it doesn't work to your satisfaction, manually. Here's how:

Automatically:
1) Press MENU.
2) Go down to CONVERGENCE (using the up and down arrows)
3) Select it (usually with the left or right arrow)
4) Go down to AUTO and select it - the process should take about a minute.

If this doesn't work, then try manually:
1) MENU
2) CONVERGENCE (as above)
3) Select MANUAL
4) Using the number keys, SELECT, and the arrow keys, adjust the alignment of the different color crosses - the goal is to make them appear white (meaning that the red, blue, and green are exactly aligned on top of one another).

Here's a link to the JVC user manual that will explain the manual convergence adjustment in more detail.

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

JVC projection tv

Mike, convergence adjustments are in your menu, usually under "video" settings. You have to adjust red & blue onto the green, when you`ve done it correctly the "cross" will be pure white, if you cannot move either of the colors left, right, & up, down then the convergence IC`s have failed and will have to be replaced, hope this answers your question, BMW Rider

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
