If they are the surface mount capacitors, you have to heat up each end and use a solder wick. Be careful as you don't want to heat up the components near the caps you are replacing. The surface mount components have a dab of paste to attach them to the board during manufacturing that holds them in place until they are soldered by a machine. Once you remove the solder on both ends you need to use a pair of long handeled tweezers to actuallt grip the componen, heat up rapidly both sides while slightly twisting the component, but being very careful as to not destroying the printed circuit traces. Its best to use a magnifying lamp to look through while doing this process. Good luck : )

Standby power failure

If warrantee still good get new one if not check for broken solder joint on transistor works until it gets hot may need new transistor should have numbers on it., If to hot will need schematic. first get sodering iron and soder 60/40 remove all covers, get(freeze it) a can of cold spray and keep hands away from power supply board the board with the wall plug coming out of it and the thick wires connected to it. do not touch, Plug it in the wall and wait until it turns off, spray the componets that you think are the problem the cold will allow it to turn on for a while check the transistors first (little black box with three leggs) then the capacitors (the little blue barrels with the black lines on them) when you find the componet call the company for the replacement part find the manufacturing company on the internet they will have it.simply make a drawing of the way the componet was in the curcuit and put the new one in,tip on how to soder pull the soder off the roll about five inches, Place the hot tip on the leg and the board wait a second and drop the soder on the hot tip for just one more second, letting a small amount melt this on each leg remember that a transistor has a ground,a hot, and a base,The cap has only a positive and a negative.Good luck

Thanks for asking and trust our experience on Fix ya.
Normally we use a solder wick or special extractor to remove the solder. Sorry to tell you something that may confuse you, but there are several things you need to know before removing the capacitors. As the position of polarity, positive and negative terminals, be careful not damage electronic driving tracks, you should not leave any residual solder on the board. You can do it!, But be careful and calm doing it. I wish you luck, and let me know as it turned out your first job in electronics. Thank you for visiting fix ya!.

You should buy a sodering kit and remove the buldging capacitors yourself. Find a local electronics store, I used Radioshack, and see if they can match the capacitors. I had this happen with my Samsung lcd about a year ago and just help another friend with the same issue yesterday. The sodering is not as hard as you'd think. The capacitors should be under $5 v. paying a few hundred for the power board.

What could cause a Philips M # 47PFL3603D/27 to start smoking?

maybe it was hanging out with the wrong crowd... just kidding.. The only way to find out is to open up the tv. Unless the smoke was coming from near the power cord. When you open up the tv, there will probably be some sort of burn mark on the circuit board where a capacitor may have blown. If this is the case (and provided that the circuit board wasn't damaged too badly, you can get a sodering gun, remove the blown capacitor(s) and see if you can find replacements at your local electronics store and then soder it back in. If not, you might need a whole new circuit board.

Monitor light blinking

Some monitors blink 2 different collers and that means that their is no video signal and some monitors will blink real fast. This is caused by a power cap going bad.If this is happening you need to take appart the monitor and look for a power cap that has stuff leaking out of it or one that has a loose connection to the board or one that is bubeling on the top the power cap.The top of the power cap should be extremly flat.(here is the problem their could be a bad power cap and it might not be showing any signs of going bad). You will need to replace the cap.You can go to radio shack or fry's and they will usually have the parts for cheep. You will need to know the voltage and the pecofarrets. The voltage and the pecofarrets are usually listed on the cap.For example 350 voltage and Fu 4.5 (Fu standing for pecofarrets). You will need to remove the old power caps by applying heat with a soder gun to the under side of the board.Make sure you know which prong on the power cap is positive and which is negitive as the cap is polarity concious.(usually on the doard under the cap it will say + or -.The longest prong on the new cap will be positive).Once you have identified the bad cap or just replaced and removed them all you will need to use a soder gun and soder to atach the new power caps to the board. After sodering cut any acess langth of the prongs off and reasemble the monitor. Now hopfully the monitor works.
