OSD not working (black screen)

Hi,
I have an AVR 635 bought in february 2006.
I used OSD interface on my TV frequently until one month ago. Since then I did not tried to used it until 2 days ago.
When I connect to OSD I see now a black screen, no text, instead of my blue screen.
I made the following actions:
- I changed the wires
- I modified the resolution of my TV (Panasonic Viera HD)
- I changed connections in TV and AVR using Video and Composant connections
- I resetted AVR
- I upgraded AVR CPU to 5.15
- I resetted the remote control

I still have the black screen.
What is happening? How can I solve my problem?

Thanks.

Your 635 will not display the OSD screen through component. You must use either s-video or rca. It won't upconvert the screen menu this route.
I had one up until a week ago. There are two outputs on the back specifically for the OSD screen. I used a separate old 13" TV with s-video to do my setups. Hope this helps.

Please how can I setup my AVR 155 Harman Kardon Ezset/eq setting up

I haven't been into amps or receivers for over a decade and bought one of these second hand, to say I was out of my depth is an understatement.

The abbreviation OSD was not particularly helpful in the instruction manual as I thought it would show on the small led display on the unit/amp but its actually for a TV screen. I ended up using only the yellow connector of a composite cable (yellow, red and white connectors) connecting it from the video out (no. 12 of reverse of unit) and making sure the TV was on the right input, in my case AV.

Once on the blue screen it told me what input it was currently on (same as displayed on amp). From here I just pressed the OSD button on the amp's remote control and navigated to the Ez setup using the black arrow buttons surrounding the (amp remotes) OK button. I tried pressing left and right to select the 5.1 setup I have, but it did nothing and seemed to recognise it was 5.1 (not 7.1) anyway. Hope this helps someone.

ViewSonic 19" flat screen monitor goes black - intermittently

Hi,
There could be a problem with your display card settings or the display card itself. If you are using Windows operating system, make sure that you have the monitor driver installed for that specific monitor. This is to ensure that Windows only allows settings for which your particular monitor was designed.
Let me know if I can assist you any further regarding this.
Best wishes,

Avr5800 with no on screen display

With some receivers, the on-screen display is limited to a specific video output from the receiver to your TV.

I'm not 100% positive if that's the issue with yours, but it's likely.

If you're connected via Component or HDMI out, you may want to try S-video or composite video.

If that doesn't work, consult Denon to find out which output does your OSD.

720p output doesn't work

The problem might be that the set can not handle the change in signal. Try setting the AVR-247 to 720P first then turning on the set. Or manually set the TV to receive 720P then change the AVR. TI believe that you have a connectivity issue where the two units are not speaking the same language at the same time. Update this with your results and please post the TV make and model.
Thanks,
Dan

Arcam AVR 200 OSD

Hi

Think you might have to use composite video out for the OSD menu to appear. Think I heard somewhere S-Video out doesn't work for.

Haven't tried yet on my own, but I will in time :)

Cheers,
Simon
