The washer drew half a tub of water on the "Bulky items" cycle, and stopped. All the lights on the cycle dial light up and flash, the machine beeps and the me error message in the "estimated time remaining" field is "Ld". I've tried to shut the machine down and change the cycle to "drain and spin" but it will not agitate, won't drain or spin.

Just had the same problem, ld code, tub full of water, won't drain. Disconnected the washer and took it out to the drive way ( hand truck) and popped the rubber elbow to the pump to drain it. Then tipped it up on it's back ( on a moving blanket) and disconnected the pump ( three screws ) and the other rubber elbow. sure enough the pump was jammed with a small thin piece of metal. Put it all back together again and just ran a load, works fine, took about an hour. Thanks sears tec for the tips!
My whirpool cabrio won't spin i replace de computer is workin perfect now
Yes a warranty is good on these machines and the first visit will justify the cost. Ld is long drain and can be caused by two problems. One is junk in the pump and the second is a drain hose inserted past the water level in your pipes. Simply stated when the machine drains you should here the water hitting the drain. If you pull the hose out and there is a water line on the hose it is inserted at least that much too far. Another detail is to make sure you use he soap as the old stuff foams too much for these machines.
Whirlpool Oasis washer, three months old and will not spin a king size blanket. Washes a full load of clothes, towels, etc. Fine. A blanket runs full cycle as normal but is soaking wet when finished.

I have the same problem. I purchased the machine at the end of June at Lowes. Now I see that not draining seems to be a common problem for the Cabrio. I have tons of laundry, and I have to wait for a service tech to come on Saturday. It looks like the 4 yr extended warranty was a good choice for this item.
In my case, where the washer froze in mid-cycle with half a tub of water, all the lights lit up and blinked and the LD error message came on, the problem was with the wiring in the drain pump. These machines for some reason have scissor-type wire connectors and all the vibrations can eventually slice into the wires, breaking the connection.
I removed the back of the washer, (about 9 screws) and removed the drain pump. The two blue wires providing electrical service to the drain pump plug into the pump with a two-part plug connector. I unplugged the wires from the pump and using two needle-nosed pliers I was able to pull the plug connector apart (it does separate for service), trim the wires and re-insert them into the wire connector "scissors brace," then just reconnect the wires and screw the back onto my washer. Did this service around 2 weeks ago, it's worked perfectly since.
will not light up after error code and will now only lock buttn works and power button only beeps, will not drain remaining water
