SOURCE: Can't install McAfee Security

try going into your c: drive and Program Files and see if you see a folder for webroot or spysweeper.
delete any residual files and the folder.

you may have to go into your registry and remove the spysweeper keys, but unless you know how to do it i would let a pro do it.

Under normal circumstances, like any other Anti-Malware software, Webroot will protect itself. You cannot randomly shut down its service. You cannot use most external uninstallers.

Always try to uninstall it using Add & Remove Programs first (on XP) or Programs and Features (In Vista and 7), or the uninstall link in All Programs on your start menu.

If you are not able to find it in any of these places, get the official cleanup utility from Webroot directly at:

http://download.webroot.com/SSCCleanup.exe

This utility is made to cleanly shut down and clean up Webroot SpySweeper, Antivirus, and Internet Security Essentials and will even remove itself when it's done.

SOURCE: Webroot 6.1 Antivirus/SpySweeper won't open after install

Dear User,

Though Webroot 6.1 Antivirus works fine on Windows 7, but its Spyweeper (anti spywear), is not seems to be compatible with Windows 7.

You can look for the version of webrrot that is fully compatible with windows 7.
OR
You can go to the free versions of Antivirus availables for Windows 7 (as AVG Free).

Thanks

Webroot spy sweeper with antivirus has gone completely blank. I can't click on any buttons and it has a white, blank screen; it won't load either. I have Windows Vista and i dont think it's expired, yet....

It sounds like your Webroot Spysweeper With AntiVirus Program crashed.

1. Click on CTRL+ALT+ DEL keys (All at once) to bring up the task manager.

2. Under the Applications tab>Click on webroot spysweeper to highlight it. Then click on end task.

3. I would suggest you uninstall and re-install it.

4. Go to Start>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a Program

5. Scroll down thru all Programs until you find WebRoot Spysweeper. Click it to highlight it- then click uninstall.

6. When it is finished uninstalling-click on Start>Restart pc.

7. After you log in to your pc>re-install webroot spysweeper.

8. After installation is complete, reboot your pc. This should fix the problem.

Webroot spysweeper with antivirus won't open anymore

My advice: uninstall it, and install the _free_ anti-virus software from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
which does _NOT_ require any "key".

Remove webroot spy sweep from my vista hp. I tried to renew my Trend Micro Antivirus, and now I'm showing NO Antivirus on my HP. Called Trend Micro and was told to remove Webroot. 09 version has spy ware...

If going to control panel and look for the program in "uninstall program", then try actually going to where the Webroot Spysweet is installed.

For example, and most likely, it is installed in C:\Program Files\Webroot Spysweep

AFter finding the folder, delete it and any other files related to this program.

Hope this helps!

Removing webroot spy sweeper

This worked for me. Search the registry for webroot (start->run->type 'regedit'); in regedit, find 'webroot'. Delete the folder that has webroot (it has sub-folder 'spy sweeper'). McAfee should finish installing.
