01% humidity my Kenmore 50 pint (54501) dehumifier stopped working. If I unplug it then plug it back in, it sounds like the compressor and fan are turning on, but after about 1-2 seconds, they shut off and the humidity setting reads 01%. They bucket full red light blinks periodically.. any idea what it could be?

I have the exact same issue word for word! I looked everything over and the only thing I found was the air filter was dirty and needed cleaned. Still did not work.

I have just encountered the same problem on my unit. The LCD show 01% humidity, the bucket full red light blinks every two to three seconds, The Up/Down setting does not change the LCD. Machine does not start.

Kenmore 54501. Got the same exact problem as well. Talked to Sears Parts and the main brain of this is the "PWB (PCB) Assembly Main" which the CSR says what most people order for this problem. It costs $12 and thinking it is worth a try. Anyone tried fixing this by replacing this part?

When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In a few minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your compressor starting. Do you hear that second click?

The compressor is located in the rear bottom on the right side looking at the machine. After you press the start button and the blower fan comes on, bend over near the back of the unit and listen for the "click".

Should the fan shut off when the humidity setting has been reached for model Frigidaire CAD504DWL 50-Pint Two Speed?

Thank you for your post, friend!

I see that your question is if the fan should shut off once it has reached the recommended setting. The fan will run even when the compressor cuts off so that air can pass over the sensor coils to check the humidity. This is a normal operation. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

Why does blower wheel stop on Frigidaire dehumdifier?

Good Afternoon Desi,

I understand that the blower wheel is not spinning on your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FAD504DUD. I also see that the compressor will stay on unless the dehumidifier is unplugged. I suggest you contact the manufacturer for further assistance. They can possibly clarify why the compressor stays on and why the blower fan is not working. If not, they should at least be able to point you in the right direction of having your dehumidifier working. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Humidity pad doesn't work

You've posted in DEhumidifier section.

Sounds like you have a Humidifier. Please post there.

Although why you want to add humidity to the tropics is beyond me.

My kenmore 50 pint dehumidifier 54501 runs but it does not taking in water

You need to determine what's "running". Here's why: There are three things that must be working to extract water. The 'coil' (a finned metal part that needs air to flow across its surface) may be filled with dust and obstructions, so no air can move...then no water. There is a blower motor that must move the air. If it is seized up and not blowing air...very little or no water. The compressor creates condensation from air moving across the coil (like the moisture than forms on an ice filled glass on a humid day) to extract the water from the air. If it's not working then no water.
So, if there is air blowing out of the dehumidifier the blower is working. If the air is room temp the compressor is not working. If it's real hot air, and the humidifier keeps cycling on and off quickly, the coil is dirty. Those are the 3 things that need to be working.

Whirlpool 50 pint dehumidifier

Lifeguard, there are generally no user accessible safety items in dehumidifiers. You are likely describing the start relay which is used to 'boost' the compressor on starting. Jumping it will not help you. It sounds like the compressor is defective. Economically, there is no justification for servicing these units unless they require refrigerant gas or if the fan motor has seized, something you can readily determine. If you don't hear the compressor hum when it should, there is no service procedure available for these sealed units.
