How do I change the resolution on my Sharp Aquos LC-69E88UN from 480i to 1080p. My satellite box is HD and the tv says its on 480i. Any help would certainly be appreciated
Do you mean the LC-60E88UN? The LC-69E88UN isn't listed at Sharp's USA web site.
Try a different channel; different programs will have different resolutions provided (particularly the local stations). How are you connecting the TV to the satellite box? If you are not using component or HDMI, then get the appropriate cable for whichever of those is compatible with your satellite box. Then change switch the output of the satellite box and switch the input if needed for the TV.
With DirectTV, there is a setup menu option to change the output resolution to the native resolution of the TV. So check that. Menu > Fav's and Setup (press Select) go to HDTV > Video tab. Set Native option to On. The only issue will be that channel changes will be slow as the receiver checks the native resolution. Dish Network probably has a similar feature but it may be in a different menu area. Check your documentation. Both companies have manuals online when you look up the equipment.
I hope this helps.
