the screen trimmer found below of the ply-back..
if the line disappear and of course it will comes dark..your problem is on the capacitor that control the screen brightness..
The value of that capacitor is 10uf/250v to 450v..
Thanks for using fixya...
OK it will help..this is my email add [email protected]..
please send the pix
Thanks I already receive your email..
You need to check first if the problem is on the TV or on the signal..
please try play DVD or any recorded TV shows to determine if the problem is on the TV itself or on the signal..
if the problem still there even in DVD...
The problem is on the TV..
I already encounter that problem..that is commonly cause of cold solder..
please try to hit on the top of TV while it power ON...
and see if any changes of the picture or reaction..if that so try to resolder the whole board specially on the hot section or what we call HV high voltage section..
Thanks

Hi,
Hi check is there is any dry soldering in the vertical scanning stage or in the power supply stage. of your tv. If the soldering of the vertical ic is dry( improper spldering contact coused by years of use) then this can happen.Thats why it disappears some time when there is a proper contact comes. You can confirm is it dry soldering by shaking the tv while its working. If the line comes and go off then there is dry soldering in the vertical scanning section. To rectify this you have to oppen your tv And have to resolder the points in the vertical section. Have added the picture, how a dry soldering point looks.
ok
hi,
Can you sent me a picture of the line when it appear on the tv To my email id. now i think its not a dry soldering. If so that gay can rectify it.
My email id is [email protected]
hi,
Got the picture. i think there is problem with the croma IC. Because it is an ic which is a combination of horizontal, vertical , video, and sync section . Fist of all you have to check by replacing this ic. its number is M65617SP-B. You can see this number on one of the ic which has 52 legs on the main board.
OK
hi,
I have received the picture. That why i told you to replace that ic.

HI,
I had a local TV repair guy come this morning who banged on the case a bunch of times and there was no change in the line. Do you still think it could be a dry solder issue?
Just emailed you some sample pictures
I would like a second opinion on whether the solution as presented is the best option before I spend the money to try and replace the IC. I can resend the picture of the problem if necessary. Thanks
Have you seen the "stripe" that I am talking about? I can email you some pictures if that will help.
Did you get my pictures I sent?
Yes, I did try a DVD and yes the line is still there. Is resoldering the entire board a realistic option?
Banging on the TV all over while it is on does nothing.
