How to turn on my webcam without any chat software

you dont have proper drivers of your webcam neither software i guess..
so try installing software and proper drivers..
you will get webcam serial no on respective webcam..
try put in S no n google around..
you will surely be able to use your webcam without using any chatting application.

Many webcams have a focus adjustment somewhere on the webcam itself.Try adjusting that to correct the blurriness.

As for the black and white image, there is often software that controls the incoming picture of the webcam, and offers different settings and adjustments to "enhance" the image on whatever chat or recording program you are using. Also, some chat or recording programs offer those adjustments as well. Without knowing the make and model of the webcam and the software you are attempting to use the webcam with, I cannot get much more specific than that.

I'm assuming you are using the Webcam on a PC running Windows. While the webcam is on, look for a task-bar icon on the bottom right right of the screen (beside the clock) that says the name of the Webcam maker when you hover the mouse cursor over it. If you see one that says the maker's name, double-click it. that might open up a utility that will allow you to turn "Black & White" mode off.

The webcam is hardware. It takes software to run it. You can use it inside a chat program, if you go on a video chat site, or if you find the software on your computer that they installed for using the camera. Look in your programs list for something that says webcam software (or something similar) and open it. It should direct you from there and turn the camera on.

Browse the picture gallery and click on your model

Select the "Camera Assistant Software" program located under the "Program Files" folder accessed by opening your computer "Start" menu.

For Yahoo and AOL, you can download and install IM software to use with your laptop webcam on your computer.

Step 4Sign in to your IM service. Then, select the "My Webcam" icon on the application menu to enable video chat in the service. When the webcam is enabled, others will be able to see and here you when conducting a video chat session on your computer.

1) If you do not intend to use the Logitech chat feature I would recommend you uninstall the current logitech software and re-install it - opting out of the Logitech chat feature when the option appears
2) Make sure you have downloaded the DirectX support software.

You would need to install the driver first, then run you IM/Chat software, then configure it, normaly it is in tools under "Video setup"
or "Webcam setup"
