The knob is held on by a hex head nut,to remove that knob pop off the center button on the knob,it has spring clips that hold it on by spring pressure.just use a screwdriver and pop off that center button on the knob, remove the nut (7/16th inch socket) and pull the knob off,the new knob has tabs that lock into the dial so line those up and reistall the hexhead nut, then push that center button on with your thumb

We have just bought a maytag MDE7657AYW, and have to install a 220 outlet, we need to know the amp rating for breaker. Thanks

I don't see the installation guide or specifications for the MDE7657AYW. However, most Maytag electric dryers (220 or 240V) require a 30A fuse/breaker. See https://www.maytag.com/content/dam/global/documents/201203/specification-sheet-I90013.pdf .

I hope this helps.

(The gas dryers need a 15A breaker.)

Maytag pye2300ayw, When I turn the timer knob the dryer starts up automatically. Normally I am supposed to push the timer knob in to start. Dries perfectly and cuts off at end of timed cycle.

The start contacts in the dryer timer are welded together, the timer will have to be replaced to fix that issue you can order the replacement timer for that model at the link below:

I have a Maytag Dryer Model # DMDG9206aww and my problem is the timer is not timing out the dryer will just dry clothes all day. Please Help!

The timer (part number 33001624)is obviously stuck; fiddle with the knob a little bit to see if it will unstuck. Otherwise the timer must be replaced; disconnect power to the dryer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Carefully lift the timer knob and dial off the timer shaft by pulling the knob away from the face of the console. Remove the timer dial skirt then remove the two timer mounting screws exposed.

Lay a piece of towel or cloth across the top cover of the dryer then remove the three screws securing the console rear cover plate across the rear top edge of the console. Grasp the top of the console then gently rock and roll it to the top cover of the dryer.

Remove the defective timer then install and secure the new one into position. Disconnect the wires from the defective timer and connect it to the new timer one at a time to prevent messing up the wires. Push in the timer knob into the shaft then reinstall the console in place. Roll the console back into an upright position to engage the locking feet into the slots in the top of the cover and secure it with the screws.

The Timer Knob on my Maytag Dryer does not move. The drying just goes on and on unless I notice and stop the dryer.

While the dryer is turning slowly advance the timer knob to the end of the cycle. The dryer should stop. It sounds as if the timer motor has died or is not being powered for some reason and is not advancing the timer.

Replacing timer switch

If you are replacing the timer, after you unplug it, first pop the plastic cap off the knob of the timer. Underneath you will find a small clip on the timer shaft that holds the knob on and makes it imposible to get the timer out without daming the know. Use a small flat head screwdriver to slide the clip to the side. Now you can remove the rest of the knob and the screws holding the timer in place. Next remove the screws along the top of the console. Push forward on the bottom of the console while gently pulling the top towards you. You will now see your timer laying there. Release the catch on the connector that holds all of the wirse to the timer. Reverse the process for instalation.

Removing Timer Knob on Maytag MDE7400AYW dryer

Can anyone help me? I have a Maytag Atlantis that my parents just gave me and my wife. Unfortunately, they accidently removed the model number sticker in the door area. I need to buy a new timer but no one can find which timer to get without the model number. Via the internet, I think I narrowed it down to either the MDE7400AYQ or the MDE7400AYW....but they both look identical to me. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two is so I can go get the part?
