Layered tones come up when we start up keyboard, the record and metratone light is on when we start it up. Howe do we change it back to the default setting to just play piano instead of layered tones?

  • Anonymous May 01, 2012

Im having the same problem you. Mine is the Previa-Px 730.When i on it, it is on layered tone already. I want to get it back to default setting ---grand piano tone. How?

  • Anonymous May 02, 2012

I just figured out how! It is just backed up. You should turn off the "Back up" so it will restore to its initial default settings. Just press FUNCTION + the back up off key, which is the 3rd to the last white key of your piano (85th key) next to the operation lock keys.

I have my sound banks layered. My first bank is piano on top and acoustic bass on the bottom. Last night it started to detune. When I hit the C key, the piano would play a C, but the bass bottom layer...

Sound banks does not define what keyboard you might have... HOWEVER... THINGS TO CHECK: Check if the bass MIGHT have a transpose set by mistake. Also check if pitch bend might be active... some keyboards can use a pitchbend pedal... We can't guess what brand or model keyboard you have. Batteries are NOT anything that would cause this. Remember that on a keyboard there is a LIMIT to the number of sound generators that are available and you can run out of polyphony with mass layering. The last thing might be any "effects" you have activated. It sounds like you can split this keyboard so separate transpose MAY be possible that low end is transposed while upper is not...

I am trying to record sounds from my keyboard into my MPC 1000. I have what I think is the proper set-up. MIDI sync...softthru as track...etc. Problem is when I set it up I can play one sound and record...

It is not clear whether you are recording audio or MIDI. If you recorded Audio samples, you will get the same sounds back even if you change the voice on the keyboard.

If you record a MIDI sequence, and then play it back you will STILL get the same sounds UNLESS you also record the MIDI voice or patch changes so the voice is changed as it occured when you recorded it. Usually there are options taht you can enable or disable voice changes.

A gap occur when i change tones on my juno G i.

Yep! When changing VOICE's (we don't call them tones) the generator chips and processing within the synth has to clear out the old voice generation and free up the generators for the new selections. As fast as the processors are, gaps can occur.

Some of the higher end synths are much faster or have so many generators available and processing power that they can do a more orderly transistion.

I am not sure how many generators the JUNO has, but tyoically two are used for every note being keyed. The specs say 128 note polyphony which should be the number of generators... HOWEVER they say these are SHARED with the audio track section. Layering of voices will also divide the number of available generators.

A lot of the arranger keyboards are NOT intended to be played LIVE and as a result transistions of voices are not done on the fly smoothly.

I have a Casio Privia Px330. On a split keyboard how do I alter the right hand tone?

On page E11 of your manual... see the picture with two voices, one for the T and one for R... select them there.

Your manual can be downloaded here: http://support.casio.com/pdf/008/PX330E1A_web.pdf

You probably cannot "change the tone" of the two voices if they are the same voice. You should be able to transpose to different octave however.

I don't no how to record in split layer. And do I twerk this keyboard

I don't know what you are using to record with but if you are recording audio try sending half of the split right and the other half left or use two separate channels to record each half. Mix as needed. If you are recording midi using a DAW assign each half of the split to a separate midi channel and assign the receives to separate channels in your DAW. If you are recording onboard your manual should have the solution and you might just have missed it so far.

Hello Tech, I beg your wisdom. My keyboardist and I love the Yamaha S80 but are stumped with an operational problem. The club blues internal 039 C07 patch sends an anoying ride cymbal strike with every...

I'm not familiar with this kind of keyboard, but it is almost certainly that you have 2 parts (2 instruments) layered together. In this case a bass and a cymbal. This is a feature, not a malfunction of every multitimbral keyboard. Multitimbral means you can play more than one instrument at the same time. This is good as you can create some nice fat sounds, but put the wrong instruments together and you'll have the problem you're experiencing. My suggestion is that you read what the manual says about layering or mixing parts. There you should find instructions on how to turn one of the instruments off. You can also try to google the words "how to parts layer (or sound layer, or combine sounds) on the Yamaha S80". Good luck.
