SOURCE: Warm refrigerator
Some simple things you could check. Can you tell how long compressor runs. Are both fans running while compressor is running? Is the compressor to too hot to touch? Is the condenser under refrigerator giving off warm air? And if all these things together while running and compressor not stopping, what is the freezer temperature and evaporator heat being taken away with the condenser fan? Is your freezer defrosting properly and have you checked the adaptive defrost control. Below is a link to that model. Put model number MSD2756GES into the search model feature and it will take you to your model. Click on photo 2 controls and part # 13 in the controls photo is what you need to have a look at, Let me know what you find and I will answer the compressor change now. ( Not worth changing if refrigerator is old) Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Maytag refrigerator side stopped working; freezer is fine. WHY?
sounds like a defrost problem maytag has problems with the defrost thermostat use a hair dryer to melt the ice on the coils and see if the defrost thermostat is swelled up on the edge
SOURCE: 26 Cu Ft Side By Side Maytag Refrigerator: Relay Failures
you have more than likely got a bad compressor it is pulling to many amps you need to replace the compressor
SOURCE: No refrigeration to freezer or refrigerator
By what you are telling me, it seems the fridge compressor has gone faulty(Assuming you have 2 compressors). If so possibly it has tripped on over temp for what ever reason. suggest you turn fridge itself off and let it cool for approx. 1 hour. Retry and see. If it continues to not cool, then call a technician. If you have only got one compressor, then it becomes a little more complex. Either your auger motor which feeds the fridge is frozen or the evaporator fan motor is stuck or defective. "my guese it is stuck"."Need to do a proper defrost."
SOURCE: fridge is no longer cold
Either a bad relay on the compressor. Or a scized or locked up compresor. My co. in NJ gets $95 to replace the relay, $450. to change compressor. $25.00 just to check it out. The Dealer is always more $$
Shop around, Smaller companies, smaller price.
If your unit has a Embraco compressor it may just need a new relay. The Tecumseh compressors all went bad and now are replaced by Embraco's

This may help with screws but the defrost thermostat is item 32 and not shown on the diagram. Once you hav ethe access panel off loof fok the thermostat. It will have 2 wires and tough metal clip on it.
