listen to hear if the cooling fan turns on, you can probably turn it over and look through the grid, if it is loaded with lint then blow it out.. possible your CPU cooling fan is shot
Everytime I try to turn it on, the lens comes out for about a second,
the camera beeps 3 times, the lens retracts and the camera shuts off.
The battery is completely charged and the camera is only 4 months old.
HELPP :(
sorry to hear you are having this issue. well the problem is your lens.
the len motors have locked up and are stuck the lens needs
replacement. repair run any where from 75.00 and up in most cases.i repair these all of the time.let me know if i can help out any further.
I had the same problem, and fixed it by wiggling the lens a little, when turning it on.
After a few tries, it finally wiggled free, and the lens retracted.
I have had this issue on several Casio camera the lens comes out fine and then goes right back in some times it just gives you two beeps and nothing else. the problem is with the lens its focus motor is out of ajustment. According to Casio this is not covered under any type of warrenty coverage and that ****.but hehe sometimes you can take it back to places like bustbuy and if you have your receipt they will sometime swap it out. But lets say they don't. well you sometime can get a replacement lens for it off ebay for pretty cheap. This is only if you are sure that you can fix the camera. If you choose to have it fixed make sure you shop around there is a huge diffrence between shop to shop.
The following blog outlines some simple repair options for a lens error. But please first try the listed Fix #2. I heard that fix particularly works well for a camera who's battery had run down with the lens open. Please post back here with a follow up comment if any of the fixes work:
I had the same problem. Try to turn it on, 3 beeps and then it would shut down. Screen would come on for that time. Also, the lens was stuck open. It wouldn't close.
I twisted the lens (gently) and it appeared stuck. A gentle screw motioned seemed to free it. I hit the power button and it come on, but this time no 3 beeps and shut down. I then turned it off and this time the lens retracted and closed.
So, it appears that if the lens gets stuck open, it has a shut down feature that doesn't allow the camera to go further into its operation modes. I believe this stuck open problem occured on our camera when the batteries went low.
Again, a second of gentle twisting seemed to unstick it and with fresh batteries in, it was able to operate and shut down properly.
As far as batteries, I use the rechargeable Ni-Cad 2500 mA. They last a while.
