Sounds like you've either got a stiff motor or gunk in the drum making it difficult for the motor to turn. When the fuse blows the drum won't turn at all but as yours is trying to turn then throwing the fault up it sounds like something is causing too much resistance
take the rear cover off and try turning the drum by hand
will try that tomorrow, it turns perfectly from the front though but just wondering if new machine time or call dyson ? im a gas engineer so no probs testing appliances and resistances etc
if yours still contrarotates it may me worth checking the rack and pinion style gears are working properly which you can see on the rear of the drum with the panel removed. It has a microswitch activated by each end of the 'rack' and may cause drag if it sn't fully one way or the other. You can move it by hand, one way makes the drums spin together the other way makes them contrarotate.
it appears to cut out when its about to spin fully or rotate oposite direction ?
hmmm... unplug it, take the rear cover off, push the 'rack' of the rack and pinion type gear set across to its opposite position then try turning the drum by hand. This should make the drums contrarotate which may be the cause of the excessive drag.
just opened up the rack seems to move across ok, tried moving it opposite direction and contrarotate all seem ok although a lot stiffer then on 1 direction but i would think this is normal ? ive tried to reset and put on spin only and initiallythe gear moves over to left the drum moves a few times then makes a loud squeek and ***** down and goes onto f11 fault, possibly when its due to speed up which may suggest to me one of the motors are faulty, not sure cost of dyson but im begining to think its a component fault and as well calling them out, could try a resistance check on motors but theres about 5 cables goin into each !
also just removing both wiring looms to each motor 1 at a time, removed right hand motor nothing turns no noise f11 fault appears, remove left hand motor nothing turns f7 fault, thought maybe it would turn on one but not the other to easilly identify motor fault but nope nothing
its possible, have you tried turning the motors by hand seperately to see if ones noticably harder to turn? to be fair if it still contrarotates its worth getting dyson to fix the fault as they'll update the firmware to stop it contrarotating which will make your bearings last longer.
I think i'll give them a call, could change motor and could be something else its hard to tell gears seem ok etc, think its a motor as it just suddenly shuts down sharply tho but as there are two and i dont know sequence of operation then i could be spending money on the wrong thing !
