The most likely cause for this is a zoom or focus lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling the camera to remove the lens assembly and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively but it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Weird noises when it's on and zoom button noise picked up on vid

change auto focus to single focus mode,
since it is on continuous auto focus on default, it would focus all the time so you don't need to click half way before taking a picture

This camera has an auto lens. Which means it will focus automatically every second you can turn this option off:
1: Go into the menu

The camera wont focus it makes a clicking noise

Most probably what i think is that the zooming/focus gears are either broken or something like sand may be peventing them from rolling/moving.

I had this issue once and i sent it back to the dealer as it was under warantly. They fixed it and sent it back to me. It would be best to send it over to the dealer if its under the waranty period.

Autofocus not working. 'Ratcheting' noise from lens area...

Sounds as if something is preventing the gears engaging. Service required.

Video noise

When in video camera mode, press menu, and change auto focus mode from c (continuous) to s (single). The noise you hear is the auto focus motor going back and forth, trying to find the object focus constantly.
You can use this only if the object is not changing the distance to the camera while recording.

Apitek 1.3 Images are blur at faces

Sounds like an autofocus issue. Either the camera is malfunctioning, or it just may be seeing something else it thinks it should be focusing on. Pictures thru glass often focus on the glass even tho we look thru it, watch for reflecions. Anything between you and the person may throw the focus off, like taking a picture of someone thruogh a doorway. If the face is off to the side the camera may be focusing on the center. If your camera has a two-click snap button, try holding only the first click and see what it focuses on.

CLICKING NOISE

The clicking noise is the internal focus lens. The S500 and S600 are very succeptible to debris getting in the lens. Or, the focus lens was knocked out of alignment.
