Maytag Centennial Washer (1.5 years old) will not run on any part of any cycle that has to do with water flow. I can set it to spin, but if I set it to rinse, or to start filling, I get nothing. Would this be a faulty water inlet valve??

Coninuosly repeats spin cycle, any suggestions how to remedy this? I have to manually cancel the cycle in order for the machine to stop recycling through spin

I had a Centennial washer on a service call doing this just the other day... After putting it trough diagnostics I found no errors and all the washer's mechanics tested okay. After resetting the control by putting it trough the diagnostics mode it continued to repeat cycles without restarting the washer.
  • Try running it through diagnostics and see what error codes are in the memory. (Guide is linked below)
  • What are the codes? do they give any more clues?
  • clear the codes and run a test cycle.
  • does it work?
  • if it checks out properly with the diagnostics it's probably a bad control board...

If it does turn out to be the control try contacting Maytag (Whirlpool) for a parts concession... Whirlpool customer service guide is linked below.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

Maytag centennial washer why does it only run on the spin cycle?

Does your machine have a lock/start button?

It may very well be that the selector dial has some internal looseness or corrosion. Has the top control panel been wet?

Maytag centennial washer - not draining on some settings

Check outlet hose for kinks or restrictions. Make sure the outlet hose is free to expel water at full volume. Make sure the outlet hose is not mounted to high. Check pump impellor has all it's vanes intact. Check for coins in all hoses & pump.

I have a maytag centennial washer MVWC400XWO it is 3 years old. The washer has stopped after the initial wash cycle leaving the cloths wet in a tub full of water. The washer will not go to the spin/drain...

For saftey the lid lock and lid down switch must be activated before the machine can advance to the next cycle. This has been the sequence for all top loaders..

Check the switch for the lid it is likely defective.

Make sure that the power is removed.

Simple repair by a qualified technician.

Hope this helps?

My Maytag Centennial Washer is a top loader. It washes fine, but will not spin out after the rinse cycle.

If the water flows though the inlet then the flow pressure should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Maytag centennial washer not working properly in Normal cycle. After it shuts off there is still water in the bottom of the tub. I can move the dial to another setting such as Casual cycle or Heavy Duty...

We have the same problem. The Normal cycle still works, but after the final spin cycle, water is again added (1 gal est.) and the machine stops. Problem occurred after washing an old 25 x 30 inch rug which partially disentegrated when washed. We were seeing particles of the rug in subsequent wash cycles during drain into laundry tub. Don't know if something is plugged in the washer or if it is something else. In another load after the rug wash, the top of the washer was lifted during the wash cycle. The water problem occurred immediately after lifting the lid as the wash load went through remaining cycles. Maybe this affected the timer? Maytag customer service suggested unplugging power cord to re-set timer. This didn't make any difference. We need a technician to tell us if this is a timer problem or something else?
