Kodak EASYSHARE V1253 Digital Camera Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 28, 2011

My Kodak Easyshare V1223 turns on and shows all icons normally on the view screen as well as older pictures on the memory card...but shows everything else black and pictures remain black even with flash on. It wasn't dropped, wet, too hot, etc..which is the only reason I know of this could happen. Please let me know what I can do fix this problem, if anything!

Hi!

It is not necessary something wrong with the camera itself. Sometimes the simptom is caused by the memory card. Reading from it works (so you can see older pictures) but every new picture is written wrong, so the camera shows only black.

Hope it is only the memory card in your case.

Good luck,

Bogdan

    PS

But if the view screen also do not show the image to be taken, it's the camera's optical sensor.

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

My kodak easyshare is frustrating me. i put a memory card in it and when i plug it into my computer to put the pictures on my computer it wont show any pictures and says that i haven't took any. If there...

You can also access your photoswithout Easyshare through Start / My Computer and your card and maybe the camera memory card should appear there as E: or D: or such volume. Click on those icons and on folders inside until you see the photos as thumbnail. Save the enclosing folder by right-click Copy/Paste to a place of your choice.

Or

Take out the card and put it in an SD card reader and connect that to the computer and follow the above instructions. Use free Picasa software instead of Easy Share.

Screen and view finder not showing anything

Just covering the bases...
Make sure the lens cap is removed
Turn the ON/OFF switch to Favorite mode
Press EVF/LCD does it toggle
Look to see if the battery level ICON shows better then half
Battery combination sometimes will show a strong icon level
It may be strong in the other modes which draws less power then the picture taking mode.
My guess would be New Battery replacement.
Some tests were done that may be of value to your solution

Here are the steps for V1223 no power problems: 1. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Turn the camera on. 2. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) 3. Please test with the a different battery If you do not have access to another battery Try these steps instead: Please take the battery out of the camera. b. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the battery. If you camera doesn?t switch on you will need to order a no power repair with KODAK or a new cable. I put a new memory card in our Kodak EasyShare

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 1 GB)
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.

You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.
1: Menu 2: Cam settings 3: Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.

When you plug-in the camera, the missing icon may be in the [My Computer] list.
Open [My Computer]
The memory card in the camera may be listed as
"Removeable Drive" - Probably "Drive E:"

Cant copy any pictures from computer

You can start copying pictures to SV811 digital picture frame if you get the message “Use PC interface to copy files.” Here are the steps:
Copy pictures, videos, and music between your frame and computer, using your computer's normal file copying tools:

1. Connect the USB cable from the frame to your computer
2. On your computer, open My Computer or Windows Explorer.

The picture frame appears as removable drives—one drive for each connected picture source in the frame, in this order: internal memory, memory cards, and USB devices.

3. Navigate to the pictures you want to copy. Then drag and drop them to the new location.
4. Unplug the USB cable to view your copied pictures.

Copying pictures from EasyShare software:

1. Install EasyShare software (free download at www.kodak.com/go/sw )
2. Connect the USB cable.
3. On your computer, open EasyShare software. Select the pictures in My Collection and drag them into the Picture tray.
4. In the menu bar, select File and then Copy to the Kodak Drive letter.

The picture frame appears as removable drives—one drive for each connected picture source in the frame, in this order: internal memory, memory cards, and USB devices.

5. Select the frame source to which you are copying.
6. Select Best for Digital Picture Frame to reduce the resolution of the pictures you are copying. Full resolution is unnecessary and quickly fills up the frame's memory.
7. Click Copy. Pictures are copied to your frame.
8. Unplug the USB cable and press “Home” icon to navigate to your copied pictures.
