HI,
C6 on my PSW-D110 blew up. I replaced it with a 100V, now I get some low frequency hum for about 10 seconds and then the fuse blows. Can you suggest any other parts which I should check besides the C6. Thanks, Pat.
Hi,
Hummmm is from Output amplifier and you need to replace it because power supply blow it too.
When you replaced the capacitor did you replace it properly oriented. if it is the round can type there is a positive and negative. you should make sure the replacement was also the exact value capacitor that you blew. sounds like it has blown again or there are other capacitors that are in need of replacement. a bad capacitor will give you humming.

I don't recall the exact output section for those units, but I would suspect that either there is a shorted output transistor or the speaker itself is blown. Try disconnecting the actual speaker and see if the amp stays on. If so, let me know. I will try to look up the schematic on this in the meantime.

Hey Pat,
There was a service bulletin that requires the following parts to be replaced should C6 get smoked. Replace the listed parts and get back to me if you have further problems.
Dan
Parts:
C6 - 10ufd 100V
C24 - 100nFd 50V
R23 - 20K 1/2W
R46 - 47ohm 1/4W
Please note that the actual power module is no longer available. Lets hope that is not the problem...

C6 must be 50V, are you sure 100 V will work?
Do you have full schematics?
I can see on a forum there is an issue on C6, this had been published on a JBL bulletin.
C6 must be replaced.
Try also replacing the C24 cap with a 100nF, 50V cap, the R46 resistor with a
47ohm, 1/4 Watt resistor, and the R23 resistor with a 20kilo-ohm, 1/2
Watt resistor.
The whole set can be ordered from JBL on a kit, Kit part number is 30721.

Humming is always caused by low earth resistance so check the earthing.

I don't understand the solution. Grounding may be an issue but would this cause the fuse to blow?
