Seems like the card has become corrupt. There is one thing you could do before replacing the card. SD cards have a small yellow switch with a sign to 'lock' the card. Make sure that the switch is not in the 'lock' position. Then clean the contacts with a pencil eraser and try to access or format the card again. If it fails to solve the issue, then try using another memory card.

How do I format the sd card in the DMC_ZS7

    Hi,

    Welcome to FixYa.

To format the SD card, select [Format] from the [Setup] menu

To bring up the Menu option, press the Menu/Set button. Then select [Setup] and then select [FORMAT]. Then choose Yes to format the card.

    Please note:

This requires a sufficiently charged battery, or an AC adaptor (optional) and DC coupler (optional). When
formatting the built-in memory, remove the cards.
(Only inserted card will be formatted if present; built-in memory will be formatted if no card is inserted.)
    • Always format cards with this camera.
    • All picture data including protected pictures will be deleted.
    • Do not turn off power or perform other operations during formatting.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

    Cannot format sd card

You are probably trying to format a micro-SD card that is greater than 2GB eg, micro-SDHC (High Capacity) of 4GB or bigger are not supported by 'older' devices. Stick to 1Gb or 2Gb standard microSD cards for your device.

Hope it helps. Let me know how you go.

When I turn on my camera I get a Memory Card Full Error. I know that the memory card is not full. I have even put a brand new memory card in the camera with no pictures on it and I still get the same...

    Hi,
I do not know whether your camera has an internal memory or not. A model would have helped and i could have given detail instructions. In its absence kindly do the following:
Power on the camera and go into settings. Ususally the method is to go through Menu > Settings. Then explore the settings until you come to date, time, memory area. This is where you can set whether the memory card/stick needs to be formatted. If there is an internal memory then you will see copy and format options. this means that you can copy files from the internal onto your card and also format it if you wish.
Another thing you need to know is that you can tell your camera which memory area to use for storing files. Usually if internal memory is selected, then it needs to be manually switched to external/alternate memory area for storing files.
Go through the manual for detail steps and the manufacturer's website. Otherwise, post your camera model no. here so i can be of more help.

First check the memory card to see if the lock tab is in the UNLOCK position. On the top left of the memory card is a slide the moves up and down. The slide should be in the up position for it to be unlocked. A locked memory card could cause the camera to read a CARD PROTECT error message.
If you still receive an error message, verify that you are inserting the card correctly so that the spring locks in as you fully insert it. When performed correctly an Icon will appear in the lower right hand corner of the LCD screen. Also try inserting the card while the camera is on.
The memory card may also need to be formatted through the camera’s settings-- Note: Formatting will delete all files, so be sure to transfer any important files to your computer before doing so
To Format: Insert the memory card into the camera and press the mode button to get to the mode screen. Enter into Tools/SETTINGS and find FORMAT. Once you select format you will receive a YES or NO option. Select YES and you will see a FORMATTING message. Once the formatting is complete, see if the camera reads the card and functions properly

    Card not initialized

I had a similar issue with an XD card in my Fuji FinePix S3000.

I had used the several times for a couple of years without problem.

The issue appeared right after dowloading pictures from the card inserted in my notebooks' card reader - an operation I have done several times in the same notebook without any problem.

I have fixed the issue going to Menu, Option, SetUp, Format and choosed OK.

Deleted all the pictures (make a copy before if the card is readable in the pc as it was my case) but made the card readable again.
