Hi guys. Im trying to play dvd on my pc but the computer keeps asking me to insert disc into the drive eventhough its already there. Have i wiped the file of and this is the reason its not working?
Is this a copy of a game or the original. If you're trying to play off a copy, then the game is 10 to 1 copyprotected. You get this problem when a copy protected game is copied and trying to play it from the copy.

What brand DVD's are you using? Its best to use the same brand discs as your burner. This is because in the design and testing stage they are using their own brand of discs to test them. Some other brand discs may be thicker or thinner and not read correctly. The "blank" disc may have already have been written on. Make sure the Nero software is loaded on your computer that came with it.
Try running a cleaner disc in the unit if that doesnt work try the following.
Starting at my computer... Right click on my computer icon.
Go to properties.
Then Hardware tab then go device manager. Right click on cdrom in device list. Select uninstall then reboot the computer. If this doesn't help replacing the unit will be necessary.
Inside the Control Panels, look for System. Double-click System and choose Device Manager. Inside Device Manager, find the CD/DVD and "Uninstall" the device. Restart the computer and let it re-load the driver. This might help. You can also try a CD/DVD laser lens cleaner.
It sounds like your computer is missing a DVD decoder software. Witout this little thing, the drive will not work. Try getting a program like Win DVD or Cyberlink Power DVD they are very cheap, and work well. If this does not work, try updating both the drivers and the firmware.
Have you tried installing the original software did it have one if NOT. Then go to google type LG DRIVE 16 HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-4166B Software. See what google comes up with you will be surprised.
The reason why its not burning as you say is because you are using a foreign software. I hate saying this but sometimes hardware can be sentimental like your wife/husband. Goodluck your prolem lies with software not hardware.
