Hi there,
If you want to set up windows xp and windows 7 on your computer at the same time, dual boot as we call it first you would have to install windows xp as if you would install windows 7 first the boot.ini file wont be recognized and you won't have an option to boot to windows 7.
Here's what you have to do:
First off ready the installer for windows xp and windows 7.
Boot from the cd for windows xp and then during the initial setup create 2 separate partitions.
Install windows xp on one partition.
After installing windows xp boot the computer using the installer of windows 7 and install it on the 2nd partition that you have created.
That way you'll let the bcd know that there is a boot.ini file for windows xp so it will let you choose which operating system to boot from.
Hope this helps!
Boot your computer with windows XP cd. it will install winXP automatically but remember to install windows XP other than the drive where your win7 is. for examp: if your win7 is in C drive, install XP in D drive. hope you can do.
