Hi,
I'm sorry to know that the camera is not capturing the images.I'll be glad to assist you in resolving the issue. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
Make sure the inserted battery is fully-charged. Make sure the camera is powered on. If the inserted recording media has a write-protect or lock switch, set it to the OFF or UNLOCK position. Make sure the recording media is properly inserted in the camera. If using autofocus (AF), do the following: Press the shutter button down halfway. Pressing the shutter button down halfway allows the camera to focus automatically. A flashing green indicator will be visible in the LCD or viewfinder. When the indicator stops flashing, focusing is finished and the camera is ready to take the picture. The shutter cannnot release until the picture is in focus. Press the shutter button all the way down to take the picture.
Some cameras have a Priority setup option in the menu. If your camera has this option and if it is set to Release , you can force the shutter button to take a picture without autofocusing. However, if you change scene modes on the mode dial or turn off the power, the camera will default back to the previous auto focus mode. Thus, you need to select Release each time you change to a different scene mode or power the camera off and on. If attaching the camera body to an astronomical telescope or other similar device, (depending on your camera) it will be necessary to do one of the following: Set the mode dial to Manual (M). Set the Release w/o Lens option in the camera menu to Enable . Set the Shutter lock option in the camera menu to Off: no lens. The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required. The Sony eService Web site at http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer. Please let me know if you require any further assistance. Thanks for contacting FixYa

Canon 40d will not take pictures

1) CF card in camera? Won't shoot without one

2) Does mirror go up?

3) Canon had a run of bad motors for this model - if mirror does not go up, then it is the mirror motor. If mirror goes up, shutter will not fire, press release again then the mirror goes down, the shutter motor is bad (same model motor). If mirror goes up, shutter fires, both blades travel together/no exposure, probably the shutter is bad.

HOW DO I SET MY CAMERA TO AUTO FOCUS

The D90 has three different autofocus modes. In the AF-S mode it will not shoot until it has focused. In the AF-C mode it will shoot when you press the shutter release button even if has not focused. In the AF-A mode the camera switches between the AF-S and AF-C modes so either can apply. Also, bear in mind that the camera doesn't really know what you're taking a picture of. It may focus on something other than your subject. If you're in the single-area AF mode then you control which of the eleven focus points the camera uses. In any of the dynamic-area AF modes the camera decides. For full details on how the various modes work, please consult your manual. You might also check out the Nikon D90 video tutorial.

How do I set the resolution on my Canon SD850?

The instructions for changing the resolution are on page 30 of the manual.
If the pictures are fuzzy, increasing the resolution won't help. The most likely causes of fuzzy pictures are as follows
1) Focus. Check to make sure the focus is on the subject. If something else in the picture is sharp while others are not, then the camera may have focused on the wrong subject.
2) Subject motion. If moving objects are fuzzier than stationary objects then you need to use a faster shutter speed (or flash).
3) Camera motion. Just because the camera is on a tripod doesn't mean it doesn't move. One philosophy says that if a tripod is light enough to be carried then it's not sturdy enough. For a compact camera like the SD850 that likely isn't the problem. However, you can still shake the camera when you press the shutter release button. Try setting the self-timer. This allows time for the vibrations to die down before snapping the picture.
In your particular case, I think we can assume that the subject isn't moving, so #2 doesn't apply. To assure proper focus, make sure the painting is flat and perpendicular to the lens axis. If the painting is tilted relative to the camera, then different parts of it will be at different distances and the camera won't be able to keep all of it in focus.
Also, make sure the front of the lens is clean.

My Vivitar takes blurry pictures. Kindly show me what to do to sharpen the focus. Thanks.

To focus on your subject, lightly push the shutter button (the button you use to take pictures) only half way down. When you push the shutter button half way down, this auto-focuses the camera and you can then fully press the shutter button to take your picture.

My shutter won't fire using 18-55 lens, either on Manual, P or Auto mode. It is set to AF. But when lens is set to MF, shutter fires. I tried switching to another lens and shutter is perfectly fine.

I could be that your lens isn't focusing. If the Auto focus can't find something to focus on the shutter won't fire. If you are shooting in low light sometimes it has trouble try shooting something that is well lit. also your auto focus point may be somewhere other than the center. there is a button on the top of your camera that looks like this [ ][ ] [ ] [ ]
More or less that will switch where your focus point is. If you look in the view finder and see a red dot when you push on the shutter button that is your focus point. push the above button until the red dot is in the centre. that may fix your problem.

Takes a long time to focus / take a picture

According to your description, I would like to assume that your camera takes 9 seconds to get the flash ready, not to focus. If it is the focus problem, you need to send the camera for realignment or to replace the lens.
Here is my suggestion:
Try to disable the flash. Does it still take 9 seconds to take picture? If the answer is ‘no’, then try to use fully charged batteries or new batteries to reduce the flash charging time.
If you have a ‘batteries drain quickly’ issue as well, this tip may help: Why my camera keeps saying ‘change battery’ even with new batteries?

Focus

This camera has TTl auto focus so it can't be switched to manual so that idea is quickly stomped on. A silly question, are you half pushing the shoot button down first to activate the auto focus. If you don't and just hit the shoot button you'll definitely get out of focus shots. Have you sat down and read the manual on how to correctly focus. A number of things can crop up which can fool the autofocus into a wrong setting. Have you dropped the camera or has someone else done so? The lens assembly could be damaged. Try pointing the camera at something about three feet away whilst half pushing the shoot button then still holding the button half way point the camera at something a long way off. Can you hear the mechanism trying to focus and does the picture in the LCD change. If it's all quiet and the picture doesn't change then it could be a damaged focus motor or a connection to it is broken. Are you sure the camera isn't switched to Macro. A lot of people get caught with that one. You'll never shoot a focussed picture in macro unless it's less than a foot or so away. BMW
