When I switch my tv to the HDMI input it appears to be normal for a few seconds but the screen stays black and I get a thin pink line running horizontally across the bottom right corner of the screen then a blue grid pops up and appears to be flashing very quickly then the screen very briefly turns green with three thin black lines running horizontally through it then tv returns to normal for a few seconds but then repeats this process over and over.

You did not mention what you are connecting with HDMI but I have had problems with my PS3 and it is copy protection related. On a PS3, you have to connect it to HDMI1 otherwise some BlurRay movies will not play.
You might have a bad HDMI cable. I have heard the quality of cable does not matter these days but I still have had issues with the really cheap cables. I still do not buy the really expensive HDMI cables though.

Image flashes for one second on screen then goes away

There could be a few different issues that could cause the behavior you're describing. Here are a few possibilities:

HDMI connection issue: Make sure the HDMI cable is properly connected to both the TV and the laptop. If you're using a HDMI splitter or HDMI switch, make sure those are also properly connected.

HDMI port issue: If you've tried multiple HDMI cables and still have the issue, there could be an issue with the HDMI port on the TV or laptop. You could try a different HDMI port on the TV or laptop, or use a different device to see if the issue persists.

Display settings: Make sure the display settings on the laptop are set to display on the external monitor (the TV in this case). If the laptop is set to display on the built-in monitor, it may cause the display to flash on and off.

Hardware issue: If none of the above solutions help, there could be a hardware issue with the TV or laptop. It's possible that the display controller or other hardware component is faulty and causing the display to flash on and off. In this case, it may be necessary to have the device repaired or replaced.

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

How do i get my hdmi to work for my ps3 system

Note: How to reset video output settings
If you are attempting to change to an HDMI cable from a different video cable or if the video output settings do not match those required for the display in use, the screen may stay black. If the screen stays black for more than 30 seconds, you may need to reset the video output settings of the PS3.

To reset video output settings:

  1. Turn the PS3 system off by holding the Power button on the front of the console till you see the power light turn red.
  2. Then hold the power button on the front of the console for at least five seconds until you hear a second beep to turn the system on again. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

Minimum Requirements

  • PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system
  • SIXAXISTM wireless controller (and USB cable)
  • AC power cord
  • HDMI cable1 (sold separately)
  • TV or display monitor with HDMI port and capable of displaying picture in HD resolution
  • Updated system software installed on your PS3
Visit PS3 System Software Update to download and install the most recent version.
  • TV "Input" or "Video" channel for the HDMI port
You need to know the TV "Input" or "Video" channel for the HDMI port on your TV. For instance, if your TV has multiple "Input" or "Video" channels, (i.e., "Input 1", "Input 2", "Input 3", etc.), you will need to toggle through each "Input" channel on your TV until you find the correct channel that displays the HDMI picture. This is important to remember, especially if you do not see the HDMI picture after you connect the cable and configure the PS3 settings. Please refer to the TV instruction manual for more information.

    • Turn OFF the PS3TM system using the [MAIN POWER] switch (in the back)
    • Unplug the AC power cord from the electrical outlet
    • Turn OFF and unplug the TV
  2. Connect one end of the HDMI cable into the [HDMI OUT] port on the back of the PS3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the [HDMI Input] port of the TV or display monitor.

  3. Plug in the AC power cord by connecting one end of the AC power cord into the [AC IN] port on the back of the PS3 system and the other end into an electrical outlet.

  4. Press the [MAIN POWER] switch on the rear of the system. A red light should appear on the front of the system indicating power is available.
  5. Turn on the PS3 by pressing the touch-sensitive [On/Off button] on the system front. The red light will turn green, indicating the PS3 is now turned on.
Note: The blue light will also appear on the front of the system if you have a disc inserted.
  6. Plug in the TV and turn the power on. The PS3 should detect the HDMI display device automatically. When prompted, "Do you want to output video and audio using HDMI?", select YES and press the alt="X button icon">button. (You may need to press the PS button on the center of the SIXAXISTMcontroller to enable the controller first).
  7. The next screen will ask, "Do you want to automatically switch to the optimal setting?" Select YES and press the alt="X button icon">button.
  8. On the next screen, the PS3 will display the maximum resolution capable on the display (i.e., 1080p). The screen will display, "Do you accept the setting?" You will have 30 seconds to confirm your answer.2 Select YES and press the alt="X button icon">button to save your settings. You have now completed the HDMI installation.

Monitor goes black - green light stays on

My screen is black, why do I not have a picture?
Answer Antenna is not hooked up to television.
  • Make sure that the antenna cable is correctly connected to the television. If it doesn't work there appears to be no signal.
Problem is caused by television broadcast
  1. Push 'INFO' button.
  2. If the screen shows channel number (1, 2, 3, etc) try another channel. Not all channels broadcast at all times.
  3. You may have a signal problem. Contact cable provider or local broadcaster regarding the specific channel.
Television is in EXT or SIDE mode, and there is no external source provided, so screen mute (black screen) is activated.
  1. Push NEXT SOURCE button on the remote.
  2. On the screen appears all sorces.
  3. Press the UP button to switch to the TV mode.
If you are using an accessory device (DVD, DVR, or VCR), be sure the device is on and running.
Blank screen when connecting to the accessory (DVD, STB, PC) device via HDMI to HDMI.

Answer
  • Make sure the cable is well connected .
  • To check which connection is selected, Press the i+ button on the remote control.
  1. When you see Blue mute / blank screen and the i+ display does not indicate any video resolution indication then there is no valid signal detected.
    • Make sure the HDMI output of the accessory is valid by changing the video output resolution to a resolution which the TV can handle.
  2. When you see a blank screen and the i+ display shows a video resolution indication then the connection is correct.
    • The blank screen is caused by the accessory device and not by the TV.
    • To detect and remedy the problem caused by the accessory device, check the instruction manual of this device.
  3. If the problem remains : reselect the HDMI external source input by changing to the other HDMI input and back to the connected HDMI :
    1. Press AV on the remote
    2. Press up and then ok
    3. Press AV again
    4. Press down and ok
    5. The compatibility check process between TV and accessory device will start over again.
  4. Reset (switch off and back on) the TV and also reset the accessory device.
