Are you talking about the rod from the handle to the latch ? There should be at least 4 rods, one for each handle and each lock. If you can't figure it out, you could take the panel off the other door, or look at a door in a salvage yard.
you probably pulled the rod off of the handle lever. once you get into the truck. take off your inner door panel and re connect those rods. there should be 3 screws on the bottom of the inner door panel. remove those and then lift the panel up and out.
well it sounds like you knocked a rod loose that connects to the door latch. now you would have to take off door panel and fix this issue from the inside good luck.
Take the interior door trim panel off and check the rods and connectors (plastic) connecting at the inside handle to this rod; and then the rod and connector to the door mechanism. Sometimes these plastic connectors become disconnected, but most of the time they break. The L portion of the rod goes through the hole of the connector. There is a pivoting "U" arm clip that clips over and onto the rod.
Sounds like either a linkage rod came off or the interior handle is broken. either way you have to take the interrior door panal off to see which it is.
you will have to remove the door panel. It is likely the metal rod inside from latch to handle is jarred or fell off. The panel will pry off if you remove all the screws in the door panel and remove lock and window controls.
YOU SHOULDN'T SEE THE INTERIOR ROD MOVE BECAUSE THE OUTSIDE HANDLE HAS IT'S OWN ROD THAT CONNECTS TO THE DOOR RELEASE THAT IS REALLY SHORT. IT MOVES DOWN WHEN THE HANDLE IS PULLED UP. TAKE OFF THE THREE SCREWS THAT HOLD THE DOOR CATCH ON THE DOOR AND YOU WILL SEE THIS SMALL ROD. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK
