Battery i have a problem with the battery of the acer aspire 3680. on the icon of the battery on the bottom right hand corner, there is a red cross on it. This is when the laptop is plugged in charging and the green light symbolising that it's fully charged is on. when i go to unplug it from the power the red cross disappears and it acts normal. does anyone know what this means or how i could get rid of the red cross?

are you sure? because this has never happened before, and when plugged in the battery looks empty with a red cross over it, but the green light at the front is indicating that its fully charged.

yess i have replaced the battery.

its working normally now.. but does this mean the computer will collapse anytime soon?

should i be worried?

mine did that for about a month, then it dies, smelled like it had melted... wont work at all now. got a new cord and it wont even power up with a power cord... i dont know whats wrong.

my laptop freezes everytime i put the Battery pack in...with the power cord connected alone it works fine. why?? and the battery neva gets warm...even when it says charging.

make sure its as discharged as possible before recharging acer ASPIRE 5600 .
When charging acer ASPIRE 5600, make sure you fully charge it.

Sounds like a simple windows software error to me. Maybe the operating system isn't able to detect the battery properly, or maybe just simply the software for the power saving features is in need of an update.

I wouldn't worry about it at all krissy, as it doesn't sound at all serious. :)

Absence of audio

Do you see an icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen for the audio, like a speaker icon? if it has an X on it then it is muted. If it isnt there try going to control panel under "start" button. Which OS is this your are using?

How can i set up the microphone on my acer ( aspire 3680 )

Go to Start - Control Panel - Sound - Recording - Recording and you will see a list of connected devices. Check that the Microphone is live and has a green tick and also that the driver name is present. Double click or Right Click the Microphone for setup options. If it is not working you may have to reinstall the sound driver.

If this is not working then check Start - Control Panel - Device Manager - Sound, Video and Game Controllers to see if there ay alerts or errors (highlighted in Yellow and Red respectively).

Also check Start - Control Panel - Device Manager - System Devices to see if there ay alerts or errors (highlighted in Yellow and Red respectively).

If there are no errors then you should be able to use the microphone successfully.

The volume may be muted. In Windows, look at the volume control icon on the taskbar. If it is crossed-out, click on the icon and deselect the Mute option.

• The volume level may be too low. In Windows, click on the volume control icon on the taskbar, and then use the slider control to increase the volume level.

• If headphones are connected to the headphone jack on the computer, your computer's built-in speakers will be turned off.
