My Kenmore Elite model number 79576283600 is emitting a horrible smell from the back. I can't access a drip tray, fan, etc. I am absolutely certain that the smell is coming from the back...maybe underneath.

1. Consult the owner's manual for the location of the drip tray.
2. Gently attempt to remove the piece under the doors to see if the drip tray is located there.
3. Some Samsung refrigerator drip trays are accessible only from the rear.
4. Reply with the model number for more assistance.

Should be in the back at very bottom of refrigerator, remove back panel to access the tray....

have you poisoned mice around your home? if so they can still be getting into places you cant see or find. does the smell smell like a dead animal?

It SHOULD NOT ... (smell in... even in WEST TEXAS).

BRAND NEW... Rush on down and get a good
NEW one.

I would suspect the condensate drip pan is plugged...

Common for AC units ..

But NEVER in "brand new"...

Get that (previously owned (my opinion)) UNIT
back from where you bought it ... Trade it in for a CLOSED BOX... and make your sales CLOWN write up why you are returning it.

Mold can be quite dangerous!!

Here you can see a diagram of the unit. The fan motor cost 95 dollars.

It depends on the type of noise it is making.

These motors when failing tend to hum when trying to start which is a sign of a dry bearing.

Rattling sounds or ting ting ting sounds are either a lose fan blade (check the cheap retaining clip on the front of the shaft .. it may have wiggled forward causing the blade to wobble) or a lose mounting screw.

Also I can't tell from the diagram how close the fan is to the drip tray(tray evaporator) These fans not only aid in removing heat from the condenser.. they help evaporate the water in the drip tray.

If you remove the motor.. have it tested before replacing it. At a hundred bucks it's worth a trip to a good electric motor shop.They generally will test it for free.

If you are able to determine the voltage and hook it up out of the cabinet you may save yourself a trip.

Chances are it's a lose mounting screw or that front blade retaining clip.

The drain pan may be accessible from the back. An equal portion of bleach and water should kill the smell. Make you wear gloves and use a fan to ventilate the area before and after using the bleach solution.

drip tray is around the back you have to remove the lower panel where the compressor is located should be 6-8 screws holding the panel on sometimes it is made out of cardboard other times its made out of metal unplug machine when going inside to see what the smell is some small animals may get caught inside and chopped up by the fan blades hopefully this is not the case for your occurance of smell but it is something i have seen hope this helps

Your drain may be plugged and water is getting onto the fan's electrical.
Go to back of the unit, remove access panel, check that the little drain tube is dripping water into the evap tray. Tray should be somewhat wet. You can use pipecleaner or coathanger to check for clogs in drain. Or cut the bottom rubber piece off to allow better flow..

I have a very bad smell in my elite kenmore diswasher. We have had it for a year now. I have been smelling this now for several weeks and I didn't know where the smell was coming from until this morning when I pulled the door down to unload my dishes.
