Webroot Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus: Windows Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 01, 2011

I'm getting an error from Webroot whenever I reboot. It says: Installation or Upgrade Error A problem occurred during the upgrade process. To fix the issue, you must restart your computer. After it restarts, the Webroot upgrade resumes. Rebooting doesn't change anything, though.

The Webroot Client Service must be running on your computer in order for Webroot software updates to function. If your updates are failing, follow the steps below to make sure the Client Service is started on your computer.

  1. Follow the instructions for your operating system.
    For Windows XP:
    1. Click the Start button, then click Run. The Run box opens.
    2. In the Run box type services.msc and press OK. The Services window opens.

  2. For Windows Vista or 7:
    1. CI'm getting an error from - windows_7_start_button.pngages/windows_7_start_button.png" alt="windows_7_start_button.png" class="h_mi" /> or the Start button.
    2. Type services.msc in the Start Search box and press the enter key. The Services window opens.
  3. In the Services window, scroll down and locate Webroot Client Service.
  4. Right-click on the entry for Webroot Client Service and choose Properties from the menu that appears. The Properties box for the service will open.
  5. In this window, locate the Startup type. If it is set to Disabled, use the drop-down menu to change the setting to Automatic and click OK.

Hello there. To better understand your concern and isolate the issue, i will be asking a few more questions for troubleshooting.
1.What is the operating system on your computer? 2.When do you exactly get the error message,is it during the uninstall process itself? or is it during the reinstall of the software? 3.Is it configured to automatically scan your computer at a particular date and time? 4.Have you installed any other anti virus or any updates that you've made on webroot like the active notifications?

Hi i bought ASUS REPUBLIC OF GAMERS LAPTOP so it included webroot antivirus ,it worked well but now stopped working when i double click spy sweeper.exe it says installation or upgrade error , i am also...

The trail period for your Webroot spy sweeper had expired, so you have to buy the programme.

Alternatively your can use free version Malware or Anti-Spyware programs like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or SUPERAntiSpyware which indeed very good software in detecting & removing Spyware or Malware from your PC/Laptop.

Hope it helps.

Error code 09

Er00 - The software that was available for upgrading was of an older or of the same version as the one already in the digital-box.

Er01, Er02 -The upgrade failed. Some information was missed out.

Er03 - The internal memory is not large enough to receive the upgrade.

Er04 - The signal was disturbed during the upgrade.

Er05 - Wrong type of data was received during upgrade.

Er06 - Not used.

Er07 - Access problem in back-up memory (EEPROM).

Er08 - Access problem in video memory.

Er09 - Can not find any data to do an upgrade.

Er10 - Poor or no cable-TV signal.

Er11,12 - Not used.

Er13 - Unauthorised data signals received by the digital-box.

Er14 - Faulty data signals received by the digital-box.

Pb01 - A problem in the ROM memory is detected.

Pb02 - Memory size is too small.

Pb03 - A problem occurred during start up (initialisation
problem).

Pb04 - Internal communication failure.

PbF9 - Hardware error identified during start-up

From elsewhere on the web:
"
1. Turn off the unit for 15 minutes to cause a full reset.
2. Turn on the PVR with everything attached except the antenna input.
3. You will get an Er09 on the display. On my PVR there was no output on the TV screen whatsoever (totally black screen).
4. Press 'OK' on the remote (confusing as there is no clue that this is what you should be doing, though Sagem support thought that the PVR should prompt you.
5. The box reboots in standby mode."

Good Luck...
I also see some mention that if the above procedure doesn't work, try pressing "Menu" twice to see if that clears error 09.
