There isn't much inside a charger, and the components are relatively cheap. BUT getting into them is usually the problem. What usually goes is either the diode or the chip. Dewalt considers it a sealed unit, so finding schematics for it is not easy. If you have the time and patience, then you can crack it open and troubleshoot it. But they aren't that expensive on ebay so I wouldn't take it to a shop.

First make sure that the unit has power. Then make sure it is not all full of dust or junk that prevents the battery from making contact. Make sure the metal contacts on the battery and the charger are reasonably clean. If it still does not work for any batteries then it is most likely bad the battery may be shorted out also. Hope this helps

If you can try a few different batteries or try your battery in another charger it should help isolate what is bad

Hi,
I assume that you have tried it with another battery...if not try a different battery...the battery you tried maybe bad... this often happens...
If more then one battery does not work, then check the contacts inside where the battery goes to make sure there is no dirt on them or that they have not become bent...

If all that checks out then the charger went bad...

I would say that the charger has gone bad then...don't know that you can fix them... not sure that you would want to when you can buy them on Ebay fairly cheaply...

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2011

What you are not understanding here, is that it is not a wiring fault but the circuit board that has failed...they are not available as far as I can tell... been there done that... is you can find it, please post because I would love to know where to find them...

Why does my new motor trend power house jump starter with air compressor not take a charge from the a.c. or d.c. charger?

Contact manufacturer. If still under warranty they should replace. Sounds like the internal battery is dead...there has to be a little "juice" left in the battery for the charger to have a complete circuit to charge...some of these units take 24 or more hours on an initial charge.
Hope this helps,Ron

Motorola talkabout red light on radio stays on while charging

Your radio needs to be turned off when on the charger, and be certain you are using a rechargeable Motorola battery. The charger will not charge AAA batteries or rechargeable style AAA batteries. If the light does not illuminate on your charger, try the radio in a different charger and see if it does. This will tell you if it is the radio or the charger. One further note, you should clean your charge contacts with a pencil eraser to insure they are making good connection.

hello,
try the charger on another similar product to know if its still working, if it charges properly then the fault is not from the charger, probably the power pack has a fault. replace the charger if it is the problem but if not try to fix the shaver.

Unit will not power on. Light on the charger does

if the light is not on, on the charger, check the fuse in the end of the car charger...the tip unscrews and there is a tiny fuse just under the tip.

if thats ok, check the fuse to the outlet you are using in your car.

if the light comes on the charger and it still wont charge, let me know and i can help you fix it.

the 3140 are known for there bad power ports.

TomTom will not charge with car charger

Mine does the same, the light comes on on the charger, but not on the TomTom unit itself. There is clearly a loose connection in the cable somewhere as you can twist the flex and make it work, although this is not very reliable.

I just use a USB charger from an old phone instead.

Charge light orang on for a second and turn off unit not charged.

This kind of problem is usually caused by either of this 3 things: Either the problem is the battery not being able to charge anymore(bettery would need to be replaced), or the charger does not give any charge to the batter(recommend try another charger), or last would be the console charger port( would need to replace console, or repair charger por,not recommended)

Rechargable Batteries Battery Charger

When batteries are placed into the charge mode, the red light will come on.
When fully charged, on those units with a green light, the green light will be an indication that your batteries are charged and if your unit has no green light, the fully charged indication will be when the red light turns iff.

Black and Decker Hand Vacuum (CHV 9600); mike Mills

If it seems to be taking a charge, then the charger and the battries are ok and the problem is with the indicator light. So if it is working normally, I wouldn't worry about that light.
