JVC Gr-D770U false reading of check tapes erase protection tab

Mini-DV tapes have a small physical switch on them to protect the contents from being overwritten. It is probably just that this switch is set, not a problem with the camera.

install first the bundled software with your camera turned on and plugged in to your pc and then restart your pc if its necessary..

Try reversing the tape

hold the cassette with the spine toward you. On the right hand side, there are 4 plastic ports and a single one above them. The single is your write-protect tab.

I lost my software disc for my JVC GR-D770u and don't know how to get my videos on to my computer to make them movies?

Since the JVC GR-D740EK is a european miniDV camcorder with no embedded memory nor memory card slot, I would assume that your talking about erasing or recording over your miniDV tapes. You can simply do so by sliding the the erase protection tab on your miniDV tape towards "record" and you can begin to record you movies. Prerecorded tapes cannot be deleted and used as "new" or bare (having no recording on it).

I saw a little wheel in there, so I took a pointy scissor and turned it. Closed and re-opened the tape door, and it popped out!

Turn the power off and back on again while the tape is in the player.

Do you have another tape to try to see it it's still doing it?

Hi! I have a JVC GR-D770U camcorder and I can not close the tape deck. When I turn it on i says unit in safeguard mode - remove and reattach battery or dc plug but when I do that it just keeps saying the same thing. Can you please help me?

You need to check the small switch on the tape and switch it the other way.
