SOURCE: configure WRT300N wireless Router to connect internet using PPPoE

Often the nets and subnets are NOT the same.. ie The Fixed connection often uses 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, however sometimes the wifi is setup 10.1.1.1, or 10.0.0.1 etc, have you checked this? Esentially tho ya router is an "Acess Point" and ya Lappy etc is ya "Client" the links below has a lot of tutorials to help have a look. http://portforward.com/routers.htm http://portforward.com/guides.htm

SOURCE: how can i unlock my router?

Ratrideen,

I'm not entirely sure what you are saying the problem is. Is it that you can't access the Internet from your PC once the netopia router is hooked up? If this is the case check your IP setting on the PC. The following documentation from the Netopia site should help.

Good luck.

Firstly... avoid showing your SSID (eircom-123456789) here, as the WEP key can be reverse engineered from the SSID.

To change your SSID, connect your router to your PC with an ethernet cable, go to your web browser (Intenet Explorer, Forefox, etc) and type 192.168.1.254, and press return.

This will open the control panel for the router.
Select 'EXPERT MODE' from the menu on the right, and accept the warning prompt. Then click on 'CONNECTION' and the 'WIRELESS' on the menu on the right.

In the main window you can then change the SSID for your network.

You can also change some of the other options in this window such as enabling closed mode, change security protocol, password, etc.

SOURCE: edimax wireless-g broadband router

please confirm if the router is a 6104K, or a KP or Wg or another model as the K and KP are not wireless, a "W" will denote wireless capability...

Not all manuals are available for download from the Edimax website but heres a start...

Connect the router to your PC with a cable... leave the modem disconnected to start with

open internet explorer and type in enter the default IP address 192.168.2.1 (broadband router’s IP address) into your PC’s web browser and press <enter>

This should bring up a user/password dialog box. By default the user name is "admin" and the password is "1234".

Confirm you are getting this far and we'll go the next steps

SOURCE: Connecting Laptop wireless and Desktop wired to the router

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.

My tv will not connect to my WiFi

TRY the WPS button on the router, considering you have a wireless router. Write down the Key code listed on the WiFi Router as it may need to be used to connect your TV with the WiFi system. If your TV is NOT a Smart TV, you will need a USB WiFi receiver to attach to the TV. New Smart TVs have a built in receiver.

How can I get my TV to accept my router password for internet use

You should not need to do this as a TV does not need a router password to access the internet. Are you sure you are not getting mixed up with another password for an application or your wireless password. Normally you just plug an Ethernet cable into the TV and it will work or you connect via wireless, and input your wireless password when prompted. You must have a smart TV for this to work of course. The router password is only used to make changes to the configuration of your router.

Hiw do i connect my tv to the internet? 8ts a bush 40" full hd led smart tv

You really need to read the manual to your TV. You need to have a router connected to a high speed Internet service. If you mean connect to the Internet, your smart TV will, have to have a browser, like Opera to enable you to get online. The smart TV apps are selectable with your remote, but you have to get the connection first. If you don't have high speed Internet and a wireless router it ain't gonna work. I don't have the manual to your set, so I can't tell you the exact steps you use on your remote control.

Am trying to connect a Finlux smart TV to the Internet. It shows the BT Home hub Internet as being connected but won't actually connect. Keeps giving the on screen message. No internet connection. All our...

The TV should not be asking this a Wireless connection, these are required for a WIRED connection.
It should ask you to identify the Access Point, then the password to access the AP. You might need to tell the router that the TV can be accepted on the router as a client. The router should be set up to use DCHP to give the TV an Internet IP address when requested.

Can i use my WRT120N on neighbors WiFi Network

Hello there,

You cannot use this router to connect to your neighbour's router wirelessly. It is possible to share your neighbours internet connection with this router, only if you run a cable between. You will need a Range Extender or a Wireless repeater for this purpose.

Can I get help with connecting my smart tv to internet as its not working for me thanks a million :)

Hi, commonly these TVs use a network cable for connecting to Internet through a router, another TVs are wireless enabled, in this case you need a WiFi router to get Internet in your smart TV. The process is similar as you connect a computer to Internet but the keyboard of your TV is the remote control, some smart TVs can work with standard wireless keyboards and mices to surf Internet as with a computer.

How to instal

Hi,
You'll wanna check out: ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WNR1000_SM_WW_23Jan09.pdf
Look for "installation"..
To help you set up your router and get on the Internet quickly, the Resource CD contains a Smart Wizard™ Installation Assistant. The Installation Assistant walks you through the steps required to connect your router, modem, and PC(s); configure your wireless settings; and enable wireless security for your network. When you have finished, you will be Internet ready!
You can set up your wireless router using one of two methods:
• Smart Wizard Setup: The Smart Wizard Installation Assistant setup is available on your Resource CD. See "Installing Your Router Using the Smart Wizard" on page 9 to use the Smart Wizard Installation Assistant.
- This is the easiest option. The wizard guides you through the setup process. It automates many of the steps and verifies that the steps have been successfully completed.
- Smart Wizard requires a PC running Microsoft Windows.
• Manual Setup: If you cannot or prefer not to use the Smart Wizard Installation Assistant, see "Manually Installing Your Router" on page 13. For example, if you are connecting to a Mac, are using a Linux operating system, or are technically knowledgeable, select this option. If you choose to use this option and install your router manually, for best results, install and set up your router in this order:
Failure to follow these guidelines can result in significant performance degradation or an inability to wirelessly connect to the Internet.
NETGEAR does not recommend or support adding a NETGEAR router behind another router, or replacing a gateway with a a NETGEAR router.
If you have a Macintosh or Linux system, you must use the manual installation method (see "Manually Installing Your Router" on page 13).Getting to Know Your Wireless Router 7
1. Install and connect your wireless router to your network (see "Connecting Your Wireless Router" on page 14).
2. Set up your wireless router for Internet access (see "Setting Up Your Router for Internet Access" on page 18).
3. Configure your wireless network and select wireless security settings to protect your wireless network (see "Configuring Your Wireless Network" on page 21)
