Our Fridge (freezer side of a side by side actually) is making a loud howling like humming noise up high by the ice maker tray area.
Any idea what we need to do to stop it? The Fridge is only about 3 years old.
Thank you!
RK
My refrigerator (model GSS25JERF) makes the exact same noise in the freezer section. When I switch the freezer dial to zero (I normally keep it at 3) the noise goes away. After a minute I switch it back to 3 and the noise stays gone for a while. I've had my refrigerator for 3 years.
FAN MAKING NOISE BECAUSE OF BAD COMP BOARD, PUT UP WITH NOISE OR REPLACE EXPENSIVE BOARD
I have replaced that board 5 times in 8 years. i could have bought a new fridge for the same cost. GE has become like most US companies using cheap Chinese made **** for parts.
they know about this issue, it is what keeps the service partners in business and buying the boards (parts) from GE.
it is part of their revenue model now. Sell you **** and make you pay to fix it many times. they don't care if you re-buy their stuff i guess. pretty short sighted if you ask me.

We have the exact same problem with our GE Fridge - Model # GSH25JF. We purchased it 3 years ago at Home Depot and it has been making a LOUD humming/howling noise for about the past 10 months. The noise seems like it's coming from the upper back section of the freezer. Any help to correct this issue would be very much appreciated.
I have the same problem. The fridge is about 4 1/2 years old and about 8 months ago it started the howling thing coming from the ice maker area. I can unplug the fridge for a second or so and plug it back in and it helps for all of 10 minutes and it starts again.
