I burned a dvd from the internet and will play in the dvd drive in the computer but will not play in my philipps dvd player. I do not understand this problem and if it can be solved. also I understand that dvd players can be altered to accept other formats such as pal.Can there be some kind of cross- up between different formats.
Sometimes it is the type of DVD. DVD-R is pretty standard. If you use a DVD+R sometimes you can run into problems with different players. Give DVD-R a shot.
I use clone DVD to rip commercial or other DVD's I own onto my hard drive, and from there I use nero to burn them on a new DVD. It works for me. Basically what i'm saying is that as long as you have the right setup of files, in the right DVD file format, your DVD player will be able to play the movie. It doesn't matter if its from the internet. You the files to be in VOB and IFO format, and the Disc needs to have all the files that cue the player on the order of play etc. I suggest you download CloveDVD or any other DVD ripping software, and note the file breakdown you get on the output, and make sure that what you download looks the same. Some DVD players offcourse can play VCDs and DIVx formats(many of the .avi are divx), you should know about yours, I dont think you can alter it. Good luck

You might have created a data cd, dvd player normally don't support data cd. If that is not the case then you the file format is not support by your dvd player.
You would have to search for a software to convert the file to the format supported by your dvd player. and write it on the disc again.
SOURCE: I have a dvd player
This DVD player only supports DVD and Audio CD format. There is no Divx decoder so your avi. files wont play on this player. It does not even support MP3 music files.

Its frustrating going through all the work to download, shrink, etc etc. and not have it play in your dvd player. I don' have any of the manuals for my players either to help find the problem. Is it the dvd-r i'm using? Maxell. DVD-R. 4.7GB. 16x. 2Hrs SP Mode
