SOURCE: ''AF'' error on Maytag Bravos dryer
"AF" means "Air Flow". Your vents are cloged with lint. I have had to vaccum out my vents several times, both inside and out. It's been a bit of a pain.

Check in the back and see if the belt has a wide span on it. If it does, it doesn't only go around the fan pulley but also the drum (Which is usually the case). THis being the case you need to look for and screws you can find on the dryer outer casing because you will need to remove the outer casing to get to the drum. If you look for screw on the upper part just inside the door many times the upper deck is on hinges and will tilt backward so you can view the top of the drum with the belt on it. Remember how it came apart; it goes back together in reverse manner. Once you usually find the belt tension pulley through the back of the dryer compartment, let the tension off the pulley and slide the belt off of it. Once you get the belt off put it back on just like the old one.

F01 - There may be an internal problem with the control, attempt a Hard Reset.
Hard Reset - In some cases the control can be non-functioning or may not accept activation from the control panel. To clear and restart the control follow the these steps:
* Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
* Reconnect the unit to the power source by turning the breaker back on or plugging the unit back into the wall outlet.
* Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the "PF" in the display.
* Start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.
The F01 generally indicates a failed electronic machine control board.
This error code can sometimes be caused by a glitch or power surge through the electrical lines.
You may be able to clear this code by unplugging the washer for 5 minutes.
If the code returns after plugging the washer back in, then the electronic machine control board will need to be replaced.
The procedure for accessing and replacing this control board is shown in this image...

Be sure to unplug the washer before accessing internal components.
When you access the control board, I recommend transferring the wires from the old control board to the new replacement control board one connection at a time.
Once you have all of the wires transferred, remove the old control board and mount the new control board in the washer.
Reassemble and test the washer.
The "F01" error code indicates a communication error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the EEPROM onboard the CCU.
The "F01" can also be displayed if the onboard "Pump Driver" fails to activate.
Generally in order to correct this failure will require replacing the CCU.
There is no way to test and verify if the control board has failed.
The technical data sheet basically states to replace the CCU.

SOURCE: Maytag Bravos dryer heats but does not blow air.
Maybe that was in addition..they tell us the air flow is blocked and tell us 2 clean our air duct ..but the dryer was blocked on inside..the repair man claimed the belt was off maybe he was blowing smoke..but these are the kind of people they are sending out..trying to blow off as many appointments so they can get off on time.

Usually answered in minutes!
I have yet to see any explanation of the code. My MEDB850WQ0 is doing the same thing, seems to be associated with the power company replacing my electric meters. No documentation mentions the meaning of this display, and it would seem that this would be simple to respond to. I have gone through the components, and even replaced the machine control board, no luck yet. Motor windings look good, thermal parts are all ok, only thing left is the interface board or the switch....... But could someone please mention what the code is supposed to be flagging?
Same problem and also related to the thunderstorm/power outage. I replaced main control board - no luck. Ordered the user interface board. Did anybody find the solution?
I have the same machine as D Johnson, same problem. Any solution?
I have the same problem, any answer would help. thanks
I had the same issue as D Johnson a CO code after a storm came through one night and the same model dryer a Maytag Bravos MEDB850WQ0. I tested everything in the dryer that I could test using the technical guide supplied with the dryer and everything was ok; I couldn't test the control boards. I'm an electrical engineer so believe me when I say I tested everything. I replaced the main control board from sears parts direct for @ $170 and the issue still existed. I even called Maytag (whirlpool) they couldn't help but did suggest I buy the user interface control board from them for $200. I then reluctantly purchased the user interface control circuit board (the board the user buttons on the front of the machine interact with) from sears parts direct for $125. This fixed the problem! I wished the others who had commented earlier would have posted if this fixed their problem. It would have saved me $170 for the 1st control board. I would highly suggest using sears parts direct; they were very helpful and had great customer service. I hope this helps others.
I also replaced the user interface board, still CO error after resetting then displays fault code, I've tested all peripherals from the connectors. Someone suggested the problem could be bad motor, I do not hear a start relay energize. It's suggested CO stands for communication. Any thoughts?
