Scanned Items or Copies all print in Solid Black

Recently my HP 1610 printer will only produce totally black pages when I try to copy a document or print a scanned document. Something has changed and I don't know what to try. Please help. Thanks

No, now anything that I scan or copy produces an entirely black image which is useless. I can print from my PC just fine though.

I assume that you mean color images are being produced in black and white. If that's the case, there's a document on the HP web site that shows you what to look for and provides solutions:

Color Image Prints in Black and White

Good luck.

Will not print black , HP PSC 1610 All-in-One

Is it a new genuine cart? If so, I have had this problem. Run multiple copies of black only text, Run 50 copies, will still spit out blank pages. Then head clean. If no black repeat. I did this for around 200-250 copies then Volia! black. Hope this helps

C-7250 HP all in one appears to have a stopped up printer head?

Try placing sheet of black text on copy board, and run many copies black only. I ran 25x12 times still no black. Run head clean after about each 50 sheets. Persevered and finally BLACK ink OK Inkypete

Blurry Scanning/Copying

Are you scanning both black and white and color the same way? The ADF (automatic document feeder) uses a different scanning area than when you place the document on the scanning glass. If you open the scanner cover, look to the left of the main scanner glass to the narrow strip used for the ADF. Make sure this narrow strip is clean -- no ink or white-out or scratches. This can make your copies look dirty or smudged.

Copying feature - HP PSC 1610

The light source has failed thus the original is not being illuminated.
The copier thinks you are copying a black piece of paper.

Printing from the PC does not require any light source, therefore printing is not affected.

Check your manual to see if it mentions a replacement routine; if not, and if it is no longer under warranty, you are maybe stuck with tossing it or taking to your friendly neighborhood techie who is trying to pay his rent.

Scanned documents are very light

I have found that when scanning b/w documents, its helpful to start with a black and white copy, not a grayscale, pen written, or printed form a printer in grayscale mode copy, but a true black and white on the copier or fax copy. The scanner doesnt read shades of black so well and when scanning multiple page documents, my pixma tends to scan in lightly. I havent found a piece of software to do just this, batch darken what has been scanned (at least not for free). Copying before scanning is the work around. Hope this helps everyone who's had this problem. It also doesnt hurt to darken what your scanning down a notch when copying
