Question about Hotpoint Aquarius WD640 Front Load Washer/Dryer

We recently bought a new Hotpoint WMF760P washing machine and within a couple of weeks of using it noticed that it kept tripping all of the electrics out in the house, when it goes into it's final fast spin. We called Hotpoint who sent out an engineer the next day. The engineer said he couldn't find anything wrong with the machine and suggested we got our circuits checked. We had a qualified electrician out this morning to check the house electrics and he said they are fine. Have you heard of this fault with Hotpoint machines before and do you know what the problem might be?

I have seen this before with a number of machines when they were a little overloaded. I've never been convinced that I understood why it happened, though I always suspected a motor overload of some kind causing the issue. This said. There is absolutely no reason for a machine to trip the mains unless it's faulty.

If you have a friendly neighbour who doesn't mind you killing the power in their house, you could always run an extension lead from a neighbour to your house and see if it kills their power too. But like I say, at the end of the day, if it trips the power and you have your electrics checked, then I would INSIST that you get a replacement from Hotpoint. Things that use water and electricity are not to be messed with!

Hotpoint wd420 shows error code f13 after replacing heater element for dryer.

Change electronic board it is what will cause this problem if you checked all ducts an fan and still heats board is bad

You will have to find the component in the machine that has
gone live to neutral,live to eath or neutral to earth if it is protected by a RCCBO. Check on the back of the printed circuit board for "BLOWS" black marks blown components.

check that your skin pipe is not blocked....happend to me with different make washer.....kept tripping when it came to spin.....skin pipes were clogged with hard oil/grease soon as a clean the pipe it was fine

My washing machine it tripping the mains board out, changes plugs and sockets and its still doing it - any ideas? perhaps the bushes?

sounds like water is getting into the electrics....or your trip circuit has became week...try switching the trip switch from another circuit.

Hotpoint WDM 73 keeps tripping ringmain when powered on

I suspect that the problem is probably being caused by a fault on the dryer element or thermostat.
Remove the top cover and disconnect the heater, and see what happens..
If it does not trip, then prob is the dryer element or stat.

Why does my washing machine trip the electric

run the machine, after it trips, unplug and carefully touch the motor,it may have a bad capacitor, or dry bearings causing it to draw excessive current,if these 2 things are not it, then look for a bare wire that may be touching case during this part of the cycle,and if you can get an "Amprobe" it reads current and check machines current draw during the start to trip current

You have a problem with Live feed shorting to earth on a main component. You need to switch off machine and seek a qualified electrician ASAP

something is going down to earth, start by unplugging the motor and retesting, if it doesn't trip them check the motor carbons etc, if it trips then check the heater element for contact down to earth, replace if needed etc, then check the outlet pump the same way if i have helped rate me please ps when working on machine remove from power supply
