I have an LG model LHD65EBL dehumidifier. The humidistat will not change from 70 when I push either + or -. The fan runs well and the compressor sounds like it is running well Some water comes out when the ambient humidity is above 70. It is in a basement room that is quite humid. It indicates 75. Then it runs and shuts off at 70.

Prt of the problem may be a dirty or clogged air intake filter.

Turn the unit OFF and unplug, it before removing the filter to check and clean it.
You can ether vacuum it or if it's really dirty & clogged, wash it in warm water and mild dish washing liquid. Rinse thoroughly, shake off access water and allow it to dry completely, before reinstalling it.
Never operate the unit without the filter in place. As this could damage the unit.

Plug the unit back in and turn it ON. Try lowering the humidity extraction level now, using the arrow down button. For a very damp, humid basement application 35% is a good setting to start with for several days.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

MY DEHUMIDIFIER COMPRESSOR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS RUNNIN BUT, THE FAN WHEN ENERGISED IS TIGHT & WILL NOT RUN. WHEN NOT ENERGISED THE FAN SPINS FREELY. SHOULD i REPLACE THE FAN MOTOR???

Definitely sounds like the thing to do. However, before you do that, try lubricating the fan motor shaft with some light oil (like sewing machine oil). That may free it up.

Compressor starts, unit runs and we have no water driping from hose 12 mo. old.

How high is the humidity? If the air has less humidity that the humidistat is set for, you won't get any water.

Runs - but no water in bucket

Hello. If your dehumidifier doesn't seem to run often but the humidity in the room is high, try adjusting the humidistat control on the dehumidifier to a dryer setting. If the dehumidifier seems to run constantly, but there's little or no water in the container, there may be a problem in the refrigeration system. Try cleaning the unit. If that doesn't work, you can't repair the refrigeration system yourself, you need a qualified appliance repair technician to do that.

When running load noise coming from black cylinder

That part you identified is the compressor of the dehumidifier. Compressor is probably bad or going bad. When compressor go bad the valves start making noise and they lose alot of there efficiency.

Kenmore 54701 (70 pt) dehumidifier is not prerforming properly

could be a bad humidistat or a bad PTC relay on the compressor, check for voltage going to compressor, and check neutral continuity, if there is both then you have a bad compressor, check warranty on comp replacement, if no voltage then the humidistat is probably bad
