I have never set up or used the scan on my hp officejet 6500 wireless. I guess I need to set up to use but I am confused. I have not set up wireless either, guess I do not need.

It's up to you if you wanted to set up your wireless printer. if you do,then set up the wireless network first.after that connect your printer via wireless.

on the computer that you want to scan from click start > control panel > printers then click add and choose network printer. it will then scan for the printer and add it . you will then be able to scan files to it, once it has installed the drivers and configured your pc.

If you're using Vista, I had the same problem. To scan, go to MS Paint and choose "file" and "from scanner or camera" then save the file it scans. That worked well for me, as a go-around for Vista. Hope this helps! Lisa
Your quest is confusing.You need to install the printer in all your laptops in order to do a print job.If you want to scan a job from each laps all need to be with the printer wireless configuration.
What Operating system are you running? If you goto the "control panel" and click on printers and devices, the printer should appear. Right click on it, and select start scan. Go from there.
To get it to your PC you must use a program to scan the picture. You can use Word to scan the picture by going to File and the Import. Import from Scanner.
have scanned records into my computer via hp officejet 6500 scanning software. when i come to print i only get the top half of the document printed on the bottom half of the page - help!!!
